[RUU] 4-18-2011 | New Rom + Radio 1.16.00.402 FIXES!

All you need to do is download the radio file itself instead of the whole RUU and boot into Bootloader to flash the file. (Yeah, made that mistake myself...)

Adranyalyn has the 4 files here, they are as follows:

New LTE/New CDMA
Old LTE/New CDMA
New LTE/Old CDMA
Old LTE/Old CDMA

I've been running the BAMF ROMs since 1.5 remix and every flavor for me, the stock radio works the best, best reception and best battery life.
(Currently on 1`.6.3 and their latest Kernal, 1.9)

Do the radio files you mentioned, have all the fixes that were coming out in the RUU Update? (i.e. camcorder fix, better battery life, and etc.). If so, do I load it over the rooted file that was posted a while back? Or over my current ROM BAMF 1.6.3?

I'm currently running 1.6.3 BAMF ROM is everything seems to be working just fine for me.
Camcorder sound still seems a little muffled, but I can deal with that.

Also, where can I get the radio files you listed?

Thanks for your help!!

OK I have read through this thread and feel I understand the process to install for how my phone is set up.
I am rooted and running das BAMF 1.6.3
I have downloaded the 1.16.00.0402w_1 CDMA radio from the "XDA obligatory thread" 25.3 mb file
"checked via right click>properties"
*The above is the latest radio version, correct?* I run 3g no 4g in my area yet
If the above is right then with BAMF 1.6.3 installed, any need to clear data, cache, dalvik?
I will be using TB to save app's (will I lose anything once flashed?)
I have a nandroid of my current state
When I'm ready to flash:Place file on root of sd card rename to"PG05img.zip" power down, reboot into Hboot, do not use recovery, instead select bootloader
From here bootloader will automatically apply the file, reboot and all should be good...right?

Thanks for any help. While informative all the questions throughout the thread have got me informed and confused at the same time. I hope getting this confirmed helps others reading as well!

You're dead on right.
You'll have to press the power button to execute...then...wait. It'll take a few to see/locate the file.
Then it'll tell you to press the volume up key to install that file.

It will have a progress bar in the upper right of the screen. I've never counted, but my best guess is 3-4 minutes.

Once it's done, delete that file from the root of your SD Card. My advice is to download the stock radio file as well just to have on hand.

I'm on my 4th or 5th flavor of BAMF ROMs (clean upgrade each time) and every one, in my area, likes the stock radio.

No, you do not have to wipe cache or dalvik for a radio update.

.

Are you saying you find it working as well as the new radio or that it works well enough you dont find reason to change it. Thanks for the reply, very helpful.

I'm saying the new radio doesn't get as good of a signal as the old one...and it also drains the battery faster (which, I'd say is a direct result of it searching for a signal more, just my guess)

I work in an old building...and the reception is kinda iffy. With the new radio I'll drop data a few times a day, as the phone sits on my desk. With the old radio, I might go down to a bar now and then, but it doesn't drop data.

(I have push email via Active Sync/Exchange on my phone. It will have issues sycing several times a day with the new radio. With the old radio, I might have issues once or twice a week.)

Again, only my observations on my phone where I work/travel/live. Your mileage of course may vary....

Thanks for the input. If I'm not hearing rave reviews I'm not going to jump on this. Hard to find time as it is just playing with roms.

I switched to the new radio when going from BAMF Remix 1.5 to 1.6, and the battery life went from tremendous back to pre-root terribleness. Is it likely the radio or something else? Anybody else experiencing this?

Yep. That and worse signal....revert back.
Get the stock radio file and change it back just like you installed the updated radio.

I've tried the new radio on all the releases from 1.5 to current 1.6.3 and different kernals (BAMF and Lean Kernals) and each time the signal just isn't there and it does drain my battery faster.

Howdy all :)

Just checking in so I can view the images that are attached in some of the posts :)

Have A Great Day!
