Im going to try it again tonigh. Quick question, I downloaded the firmware Sm-988U for tmobile. There is an SM-988U1 for tmobile that I found for July patch. Is that the same? if it is, can i try to load that before I proceed with the unlock firmware

Thats the unlocked firmware , flash that
All carriers on unlocked firmware are on same build and security patch

No not a issue
SM-G988U is carrier version , you'll be going to SM-G988U1 unlock with odin prince comsey
