s21 ultra laggy with Nova Launcher

When I swipe up to go home, if I immediately click on another app to open it, the screen will flicker. The second tap will open the app.
That's a known issue with Samsung devices when using Google gestures and any third party launcher. That flicker happens when you click your homescreen before the animation is completely finished. It's been fixed in Android 12/OneUI 4.

I'm already at .5.
I'm afraid there are only three options right now, use Samsung Gestures, wait a bit until the animation is complete or be patient until you can install Android 12/OneUI 4. Well, or don't use Nova until then. Sorry.

I switched to Samsung gestures (3 button swipe up) and am using Samsung One Handed operation+ from Good Lock to be able to use the swipe from the side feature. Screen blinking is gone now. Thanks.

Glad you found a workaround. Now just wait for Android 12 to be available for your model.

Its weird this bug exist for some , i had this bug at beginning when Andriod 10 was introduced

I could flash the U1 ROM using Odin and then sideload the beta. But I don't want to erase my phone. It's not really worth it to me.
Agreed, I don't think that going through such a process and dealing with Beta bugs is worthy for such an small issue.

Oh nice, you are sure it is fixed in Android 12?
I am using my S21 the same way as Joshua ("Samsung gestures (3 button swipe up) and am using Samsung One Handed") from the beginning, but I would much prefer the google gestures... At least something to look forward to!

Agreed. I'd much rather use the Google gestures but I'm glad it's fixed in 12. More of a reason that I might use Odin to sideload the beta. I'm going to give it another couple of updates though.

If i had to chance to load andriod 12 beta right now i be all over it on my Note20U

My S21 ultra just got the One UI 4.0 update. After updating, I noticed that my device is very laggy using Nova Launcher Prime 7. Scrolling, especially Google Discover, is laggy. Transition is not as fluid and smooth. Makes it not even worth using now. Anyone experiencing more lag now?

I'm using Android 12 with One UI 4 on my S21 Ultra. I can confirm the issue still exists. For me there is a consistent delay when I try to do something after I go to home screen by swiping up from the bottom center. You can't immediately open another app or scroll through your home screens. If I give it a second and try it works. Also this does not happen when I go to home screen using back gesture on the sides. That works fine. The issue is only with go to home screen gesture from the bottom center.

Welcome to AC!
Can try setting up Nova from scratch see if its ok sometimes a back up can give issues from one Android version to another

This is a gross simplification. The home gesture "needs to check first" if you are just going home or want to open the Recent Apps (Quickstep) and this is only handled by the stock launcher. The Back gesture doesn't have this extra check so it works as expected. There's a new API after Android 12 that makes this transition quicker and more fluid when using a custom launcher, it really depends on the OEM and Samsung ... well ... it's Samsung.

Tried fresh install of Nova without restoring any backup. Same issue. And this is not just with Nova. I see the same issue with other launchers like Lawnchair. I wish there is a fix for this. The experience is slightly better with Nova 7 which does not cause any flicker like the older versions. But the delay is definitely still there.
