S21 Ultra to Z Fold 3...Anyone else tempted?

Flossy Carter, in his Z Fold 3 review, said anyone who has the S21 Ultra shouldn't get the Z Fold 3 because the S21 Ultra has better cameras and better battery life.
You should give a test drive for 14 days see your own experience?

He compares a dedicated phone to a device that folds open to a tablet/phone and wonders the outcome in battery life lol come on

I just watched a video on the ZFold 3 and yeah I'm not tempted in the least. There are really two drivers for this to me. First is the size. Now don't get me wrong at certain times it might be nice to open up that big screen and watch something but to me that's all it would be good for. It's not going to enhance anything else I do on the device so the bulk isn't worth it to me. It's like the Note series for me, I have no rational or useful reason to need an S-Pen. More expense for no gain of function. My second reason is the screen is super soft. If you've ever watched JerryRigEverything do his durability tests, a screen that scratches at a level 2 is not my friend. It even warns not to use your fingernail. So yeah no temptation at all. I feel like saying that if either one of those wasn't true I might consider it but the truth is both of those things would have to change before I would even bring that consideration in out of the rain.

Note I didn't even mention the cost of the device. My interest died long before I ever had to even think about 2 phone price tag.

I'm going to comment on the bulk. You have bulk with both phones. Fold is thicker, S21U you have bulk wider and taller.

Both those, plus it has worse cameras and average battery life than the S21 Ultra. Not great for an $1800 phone.

You're not buying the fold for the camera. Samsung isn't pushing a great camera. Battery life is fine, runs with my note 20U. Sounds like you have the phone you want, that's a good thing.

That's like comparing a camry to an escalade and being surprised that the camry gets better gas mileage because it's cheaper lol. Truth is if a phone can last you through a day and you're a heavy user you're doing well. I'm not on my phone 24/7(pretty close) lol, but even then I switch back and forth between multiple devices including tablets.

Good for you.
It is good for me and it absolutely works for me. After all, what makes Flossy an expert on what people should buy?....Absolutely nothing.
His videos are entertaining, but so are lots of things. He certainly knows how to make money on youtube because of his followers.

Had some hands on time with the Fold today at our local Media Markt nearby Vienna, but it did not trigger that "wanna have" feeling in me. I'm glad to have the Ultra.

Saki is also saying this! if you have the S21 Ultra or the Note 20 Ultra to not upgrade due to crappy batter life and the cameras. IMO wait for the S22 Ultra or Note 22 Ultra. I think the Note 22 will be the phone to get next year!

I hope the Note 22 is released in Feb or March along with the S22 and they do the Fold in August. Need the Note. It's silly how there is no silo for the Spen in the S21.

The S21 Ultra overall is a better device than the Fold 3. besides the folding screen, there really isn't nothing that's equal or better than the S21 Ultra in that phone.

You guys really need to stop comparing the camera of the fold to the s21 or note 20. They are not the same camera, samsumg never said it was the same camera. Give it up, the fold is not being marketed for the camera, you are just beating a dead horse at this moment.

Battery life for me is on par with my note 20, I have both and use both more then just for reviews, so I can talk about that.

Edit..I know I will hear for $1,800 it should have a fancy camera. You're paying for folding technology right now. The camera samsumg put in the fold does what they say it will. It's expensive, it's not for everyone.

No, we really don't. This thread is about whether to move from the S21 Ultra to the Fold 3, and for most of us the camera comparison is highly relevant to that decision. If the camera doesn't matter to you then that's fine, but it doesn't mean that the rest of us should ignore the camera when we're asked how the two phones compare.

Yet again you still want to beat a dead horse. Samsung didn't put the same camera on the fold 3, they never claimed it was the same. We all get it, you won't get the 100X zoom on the fold. I respect your choice on wanting a different camera, but beating a dead horse over and over and over and over.. We get it, the camera on the fold 3 as advertised is not the same as the others.

Ok, so I think we agree that if the camera is important to you, the S21U is better for you than the Fold 3; but if the camera doesn't matter much to you, then the Fold 3 may be the better choice for you. Fair enough.

I think the move to Fold from a phone like Note or Ultra has to be about a person wanting something different and plenty peeps are not ready for the move and its okay... Prices will eventually come down like the Z flip did this year.. And I see more first time adopters which is great for more input and Samsung upping it year by year... I loved my Note phones best best IMO over the years... I remember when I got that Note 2 and peeps where skeptical about the phone... Just look where it went.. And I feel foldable will evolve as well... You have to know what's more important to your daily usage... Choices are good... I happily traded away a better camera for a better experience for me... It's totally cool waiting for another phone... Good conversation here always and keep your thoughts coming folks...

Absolutely. I'm just saying we all know the cameras are not the same. There's really no reason to say it anymore. the fold is expensive being the camera isn't the same, we are paying for the fold feature. I think both are good phones, get what each wants, I was just thinking we are beating a phone up for something that was never there or hinted at. To me it's like comparing a Corvette to a Ford pinto. I get it, this thread is about why not getting it, it just seems the camera is the main reason. If camera is important absolutely do not get the fold 3, I agree with that.
