So I got a new S23 From work I can barely speak a Half sentence. And it stops recording

Is there any work around for this or am I stuck with this Pos period

As you can see from my post, this is how great it's worked.

Normally, I would go back and fix all these Type as, but this is an example of how great this thing is Working comma not Happy

That's what I was using, tried g. Board. And it's almost worse, this thing's gonna End up in the field being run over by a bush hog mower.

Just over it. This is the best they can do. Question mark

Hello, just a couple of questions for clarity.

Which apps are you using voice typing in? If it is more than one, are the results the same in all?

How are you turning on or starting voice typing? Some input fields have a mic, and there is a mic on the keyboard, and there may be another way that I'm not thinking of, how do you do it?

Open an input field, touch the field to bring up your keyboard, in the lower left corner there is a keyboard icon, when you touch that what do you have selected?

Are you in ideal environments when you start a voice to text entry? Is it relatively quite, with mostly your voice audible?

Without the answers to these questions just a couple of things come to mind. First it is really odd that in your example you got the words "question mark" and not the symbol. I assume you left that intentionally, thank you for that, this and the short interval for input, makes me think you are not using Google's voice to text and may in fact be using Samsung's offering. It is not automatic and while Samsung's offering is built on the Google model, the experience is much better with Google's offering. Please try the following.

Provide answers to the questions above and let us know what you find and if the instructions were helpful.

I have tried both Google text and g. Board with the same results period

To start a simply tapping the field that needs text and then hit the microphone which on the new phone is down at the lower left corner, like you mentioned period

Right now I am sitting outside by the hot tub. The voice to text is working better and right now i'm using google text comma butt it still is not as good as it was on my s twenty period

I have not tried the swift key. As mentioned in a previous post, that might be next period

It's so frustrating. I was used to the S20, but it just started not ringing. When phone calls would come in and then all of a sudden, I would get a missed call notice. So when I was due for an upgrade at work, this is what they gave me And less than happy period
But it doesn't cost me anything.Either period

All of this was done on Google Voice. Type and I also notice I can't delete. Or backspace over entire words, it's character by character that's not how it used to be period

Google voice to text for me is hands down the best and use multiple Andriods, Samsung version is worthless.

Check the play store for updates as a lot of times they don't automatically update even with that setting on.

Thank you for the explanations but please confirm that you have tried to follow the instructions in the short. I hate to be a stickler on this point but I would like to confirm what product is being used by way of positive affirmation that yes I went to this menu and made these changes as described and not in some other way. As mentioned in the video other methods can be temporary and may lead to a false belief that things are one way while actually being another.

In the meantime, were you able to create your entire response without restarting VTT? You mentioned it having a short duration so I ask because it is very long would take some time to dictate. I also noticed towards the end that you were actually getting periods and not the word period. Do you think that could have been due to a cadence change? Personally I find dictation unnatural and find myself talking like I'm explaining something to a second grader where I'm thinking of the next word before I say it and searching for where to place punctuation. But having said that I never get the words just the punctuation.

The only other thing I can think of would be to retain your voice model. It doesn't seem like it should matter since you're actually getting the correct words and it recognizes your punctuation statements albeit translates them to words instead. I've come across problems where I've seen silly things like that happen where just redoing sometime that seems to be working correct some issue. I'm then left scratching my head as to why it made any difference but worked.

These instructions will help you do that.

I went through the instructions apparently there was some voice recordings or something stored and they updated it probably from my s20 phone. It works better but it's still only does half a sentence at a time. At least it's recognizing punctuation. Still not the best and I don't know what else to do.

So I did a phone restart, and now I can sit here and talk all day long period however, we're back to it not recognizing punctuation, I guess all my messages will have no punctuation and the commas you see in there, I did not put in that was something that Google thought. Needed to be there. Period

That whole string was just done in one go, but without punctuation, being properly placed

Just kind of over this whole new phone at this point

So got up this morning, and was sending an email to work. Lo and behold all of a sudden everything is working just like it used to on my old phone. I seem to think that this is a possessed phone! At this point if it keeps working I'm happy if it starts acting up again I'm going to be worried and probably have to lock the phone up in the garage at night when I go to sleep.

And all of that was just done in one go!

Well I'm glad you got the VTT working for timing out and all of that. I think it was on the Pixel that we were seeing complaints about punctuation issues with Google. If memory serves, people were complaining that before an update, and this was probably over a year ago, that the punctuation was better and then it started putting periods and commas where ever it darn well pleased. I personally have never just went on and on to see if it would go back and insert punctuation, which is how I'm assuming it works, but instead just say whatever I want when I want it. I'll look up that thread and link to it here if I can find it. It's good that you're like 75% there, closer than you were before.

Yeah thanks everyone, I'm of the mind that basically the s23 is a downgrade from the s20 but I've got 6 months to wait before I get another upgrade at work, maybe then I'll go to the 24 or whatever comes after that, between now and then, like I say it's a free phone, I'll deal with it! I have ordered an OtterBox from our lovely Administrative Assistant because the case that was given to me by the IT department is basically, shall we say crap it's slick you can't hold on to it, yes it's good for a 16 ft drop. But it seems to have some form of keychain thing on the back so it doesn't lay flat, yes I guess I am OCD, I know what I like and I know what I want.

Peace out, until the next adventure with this new debacle of a phone!

🥰
