Buds seem to be an end of year thing alongside the foldables and watches. I'm pretty happy with the buds too pro anyway, hard to see how they could be improved much.
Did they come out with buds in 2023? I admit I don't pay that close of attention.

I read that the newest buds model was the buds model made for the FE phone model. I have no idea what that means though - improvement over the buds pro or worse than the pro model but cheaper in price?

as far as i remember, the "FE" model of whatever is NOT the top-of-the-line model, so i have a feeling that these NEW "FE" earbuds must be lower grade than our PRO earbuds from last year. however, this is all my guess since i'm not an earbuds expert, haha.

I'm definitely trading in my s23 ultra. I couldn't afford it back several years ago but I'm finally fortunate enough to be able to do it. Definitely an unnecessary splurge as the s23U rocks.
If you upgrade every year it isn't that bad. Only a couple hundred dollars if you trade in last years model. I've been doing that for like 3 years. Also I hope I can get my TMobile one from Samsung, not T-MO

Will see if I can trade my Pixel 8 Pro and Galaxy S23U for the S24U. Hopefully some good deals will be available.

Excited to see what AI stuff the phone will be able to do. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 looks like a powerhouse with some amazing AI capabilities that no other chip can do, so will be interesting to see what Samsung does with it.

It was indeed the FE buds. I can't tell you what they are like because the FE branding made me totally ignore them.

i'm similar to you, generally ignoring the FE as it isn't their best line. however, in this case, what else would i buy with the $100 or $150 credit that MUST be spent while ordering the phone itself? there aren't that many other options that are useful for me.

I'm sure they're good earbuds, but not up to the buds 2 pro... unless they really missed the mark with their branding.

It looks like we're getting a Galaxy watch 6 free this year here in the UK, which I intend to sell unopened.

@fuzzylumpkin: lucky you UK folks! yea!

i have no idea why i would want another pair of earbuds. my current ones are OK but they aren't amazing. sometimes, they would fall out when i'm merely walking. bummer.

wish they would just give us a credit/discount on the phone itself, rather than giving us useless (or at least not very useful) items! ;)

I couldn't agree more, just give me money off the phone rather than making me jump through hoops. And don't worry, we get horrible trade in values to make up for it lol.

I have not been keeping up with all the leaks this time because I have been so happy with the S23 Ultra. I've had no issues whatsoever and the battery life has been amazing, however, with Samsung emailing me with pre order offers recently I shall see what the trade in will be but this is the first time in a long time that I haven't kept up with the latest news.

"Update: Thursday, January 4: We’ve our first confirmation on one pre-order offer that Samsung will be making. Consumers in the United Kingdom who have reserved their spot in the pre-order process are greeted with a pop-up informing them they can “Claim a Galaxy Watch6 (worth £289)" when they pre-order a new device between the 17th and 25th of January.
This is a UK-based offer, yet with the global launch of the Galaxy S24 family, I’d expect the offer to be repeated in key global territories.

The Galaxy Watch6 was released in August 2023. It’s a competent Android smartwatch, which works well when paired with any Android device, but the experience is improved if you pair it with a Samsung Galaxy. Having another piece of hardware tied to a user’s Samsung Account is a nice bonus for the company."

apparently, this writer expects the free Watch6 offer will be repeated in other "key global territories". wouldn't one expect the US to be a key global territory?

my original plan was to buy the S24U straight up and keep my S22U as an emergency backup. I got the bride a S23U last year (while trading in her S22U), so she's set. also, she doesn't really care, so there's that. ;)

I wouldn't count on that offer being repeated in other markets. As I said earlier, it makes up for our usually weak trade-ins and this isn't the first time we've had the promotion where we claim an accessory after pre-ordering. It's usually Galaxy buds, but the US tends to get accessory credit instead.

This stinks. Jan 17th if that's pre order date too that means around week of Jan 31st we get them. Of course once again I might be phone blocked :) I mean I've had delays due to shipping, hurricanes a number of times as well, and now because my mom died 4 days before Christmas we're having the church service, burial and celebration of life Jan 30th and 31st. Hopefully it comes on a Thur then or else yet another delay for me.

I have bad luck with S series and Note pre orders and shipping!
