S4 draining

Hello! My S4 is draining 1% every 2 minutes no matter what. I tried everything, 3 different batteries, gone back to Kitkat 4.4.2, CM13 with a lots of battery apps and custom kernel, battery saving mode, limited 2 cores of the proccesor...but nothing! Still drains 1% every 2 minutes no matter what! I had a s4 mini before, and I don't remeber it draining so much battery

Try deleting cache, if it doesn't solve the issue, you will have to reset it.

S4 massive drain

Hello guys, I have a problem with my Galaxy S4. It's draining very fast, no matter if I use the phone or not. The most annoying thing is the idle drain, if I let the phone fully charghed overnight it drains almost complete. I tried absolutely everything, CUSTOM ROM, custom kernel, airplane mode, safe mode, recalibrate battery, changed 3 batteries, factory reset, without sim or sd card, changed charger and cables...everything. And the strangest thing is that I had an S4 a few years ago and had the same problem..and i sold it.

Most probabaly it's a hardware fault, but i want to know what can cause such and issue?

In your original post, your cell signal was pretty poor. If you're in the same location now with the same poor signal, that can be a large contributor.

That's also a 6 year old phone. I think the biggest issue is simply the batteries are old and worn out. The bad news there is they are no longer produced and any "new" battery will be old stock and also most likely degraded from sitting on a warehouse shelf for years.

Combine that with simply being out of date in every other aspect, I think it's time to upgrade to a new(er) phone.

It's not about to upgrade to a new device. I already have the S10. I bought the S4 for my father to get used with a smartphone, and it's very frustrating to have exactely the same problem now with his phone as I used to had a few time ago with the S4. I mean what were the chances? For sure it's a hardware problem, but why and what can cause this fault?

Given the age of the phone, I'm sticking with my original comment that it's the batteries. Li-ion batteries don't last forever, and it's unlikely you'll find a good one for that phone.

I'm no newbie in this, the first thing was to replace the battery.
I had this issue with the S4 when it was still one of the best, and now I had the same problem with another S4. I changed batteries when they were brand new with no result. I asked at a local service and with a deeper search on internet I found out that the S4 has a very well known issue with the motherboard, to be more specific the IC module PM8917.
