S6 Edge - Screen rotation does not work properly

Replace your phone. If its 14 days still its so much easier. 5.1 is not out unless your on tmobile right now I think btw.

Been using the fast charger since i first got the phone in April, and my sensor is absolutely fine up to now. It has gotten really hot but it didnt fry the accelerometer.

"Sorry for my bad english" I had gone to samsung service center cause my s6 have got similar problem. When i open camera app and i shake it a little bit. It always oriented upside down

Then the technician taught me. So... when you are not opening the camera app...try to shake your phone. You will hear like a rattling phone inside... thats the gyroscope sensor. But when you open the camera app and you shake your phone. The rattling sound will gone. Thats because the gyroscope has changed the mode to calibrate using gravity sensor.
The technician told me whether i wanted them to check my phone or not... and i said no. Cause i the restoration is really expensive and it is not under a legal warranty 😂😂

Unless you've taken it apart and there's visible damage, I'd consider it a defect and THAT should be included in the warrenty at least in the U.S.. You might want to avoid that person and just say "I'm having issues rotating and know there's issues help me get a replacement". Worst case if you have any warrenty through your service tell them and you should have one quick as a [insert fast mamal]. It's still 1 yr warrenty and depending when you bought it could be under a 90 day even if it's not covered after normal assumtions.

I find telephone service reps MUCH more willing to work with you than reps in store. I swear they get pay cuts for exchanging a phone.. i don't care if there is flames coming out of it!

I think Sammy should call back those phones, people around the world are having the same issue with the S6 edge...

I attempted to answer my own question by skimming through the past 17 pages but didn't come up w/anything specific, so I apologize if a solution to my question was already posted. I recently got the 32g gold Samsung s6. I have noticed screen rotation issues ONLY within the Samsung gallery app. I'm able to take landscape and portrait pictures, but when I review the photos I'm only able to view in portrait mode. I have yet to notice issues within any other apps, pre-loaded or otherwise. Anyone else have this specific issue and/or know of fixes for it? Or should I employ one of the other solutions posed already in this thread?

Maybe 5.0.2 reacts different to the issue but thats still an issue. the only app samsungs updated on my phone was snote and text to speech. go with the solutions. if your near samsung see if they feel like working or if in 14 days return the phone OR if your more than 14 and have warrenty support get a replacement one from your service.

What I've noticed is that photos do NOT rotate in the Gallery app but DO rotate when looking at them in the camera. This makes me think it is a software issue. Mine is version 5.1.1.

Your accelerometer is toast. They used a software "fix" so the camera would rotate.

I had the same problem on note edge. I just fixed it by turning off the phone and removing the battery for 1 hour, you should try it.

And I am joking about 1 hour :) 1 minute is enough

Just updated to android 5.1.1 after having this issue for a few weeks. Was going to return it this week after following the standard troubleshooting tips from support but then an update popped up today.
All FIXED!!!
No tech stuff for me to quote as I am not savvy but it just works after the update. :D

5.1.1 here on my VZW S6 Edge and no rotation. Using CPU-Z, X and Y are not changing on the accelerometer. Going to the Version store to see if they'll swap it out tomorrow.

I don't want bring up an old topic but I'm encountering a similar problem. Slightly different than other posters but similar enough to not start a new thread, I think. I thought I should ask for advice first before going to the store.

I have been using the fast charger for over a month now. Nothing out of the ordinary. I've notice my phone feeling a little overheat once or twice in the past but that it. Nothing noticeable. My phone is up to date, 5.1.1 as of about a week ago. About 3 days ago, I noticed that the sensor was a bit off. If I tilt the phone 15ish degree to a side, it will switch the landscape mode to that side. A little too sensitive but I didn't pay much attention to it until it worsened today. It wouldn't go back to portrait mode. I could slwo tilt it the other way, and it will go landscape mode the opposite direction, skipping the portrait mode all together. The only way for it to go back to portrait mode is to close whatever app I was using, put the phone down on a flat surface. But if I pick up the phone again and tilt it 15 degrees to either side (easy to do by accident), the phone will go into landscape mode again.

I downloaded cpu-z. Not entirely sure how to read the numbers but as far as I can tell, all numbers changes when I move the phone. Nothing is "stuck." I also used Check My Android and all numbers and lines change when I move the phone.

I have tried restarting the phone. I also clear the cache in the startup screen (press and hold the up volume, power, and home button after I have power off the phone). I haven't done a factory reset my phone, which I hope I won't have to. But probably will soon.

Sigh. So I guess there isn't anything new. I guess I'll backup my stuff and do a factory reset when I get home later. Hopefully that will fix it. I really don't want to lose 2 weeks to send in my phone and get the chip replaced.
