S7 - Would Samsung double sales if they offered a stock Android version?

Why would they? They sell a ton of phones without it. TW is an issue only with some in these types of forums.

I totally agree. Contrary to the impression a newbie would get on perusing most of the android fora Nexus phones and stock android version aren't the most popular worldwide. I'd hate stock android. I'd rather have TouchWiz with its features than "faster and smoother" stock android.

It would honestly not affect their sales as far as increasing them dramatically.

I'm looking to come from a 950 XL and while the S7 Edge is tempting, I want a carrier unbranded phone and stock android for the sake of updates and a clean experience, which honestly leaves me with few choices on the Android side or bounce back over to iOS which I flipped from to WP years ago.

TW is fine for me. But would be great if Samsung could skip the carriers in terms of branding/bloatware & just update the units directly.

Samsung are allowed to offer non carrier models/firmware, without any carrier bloatware, in most countries/areas of the world except North America. These do indeed, receive faster and more frequent updates, direct from Samsung, than the carrier branded models. See 42 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide

Most countries worldwide can order, direct from Samsung, the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge. Carrier free, on stock Samsung TouchWiz firmware, unlocked and rootable.

In the U.K. and most other countries worldwide, you can go into a mobile/cellphone shop and choose whichever model you want, as above, and then select a carrier and plan of your choice. CarPhone Warehouse for example

Sure there are carrier firmwares for the U.K. but most carriers either do not bother or limit the branding to a bootup screen and 3, 4, 5 or so apps as they know that if they cram any more on, customers will just opt for an unbranded model.

Europe, South America, Australasia, Russia, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, India, etc; etc; all have stock, unbranded firmware. Only North America does not.

I'd probably bite on a S7 Edge if I could get one carrier unlocked/unbranded here in the US, not sure why Samsung does not do this. I could deal with TW if the phone got semi-regular updates, but once it sets behind a US carrier, I'd rather not deal with that again. It was not fun with the Lumia 822, 928 and Icon on Verizon, running the 950 XL on AT&T and it's nice to get firmware and OS updates drop much faster (though a Win10M native or officially updated device receives OS updates now outside of carriers with the AT&T 950 showing it gets the OS updates, but not a single firmware yet) I have a Nexus 6P on the way, so that should suffice for me.

I doubt it. Most people who buy Samsung Phones dont care about stock android.

That said, I would like the choice of a skinned TouchWiz experience with all its features or a more AOSP-like experience with some TouchWiz features built-in, a la Sony Concept + GPe via an optional ROM provided by Samsung.

I'm not in favor of all phones solely running stock Android because it diminishes the choice factor, but I'd welcome that choice between experiences as an advanced user.

If you use Samsung theme app, Nova Prime launcher and an icon pack you can get a very minimal clean looking skin with awesome gesture controls.

That's actually the setup I'm running on right now on a current Samsung device. Nova Prime + Dark Material theme + Rewun icon pack. Pretty darn slick.
