S8+ and....scratches!

I had my s7 edge screen replaced as it developed the pink line.

As it was replaced by an authorised Samsung Service Centre the ip68 rating was retained. Something I asked.

If this was my situation I'd definitely try a screen shield first.

Are you able to upload a picture of the phone & scratch for us to view @gmaister22

i loved having a belt holster for my phones, but alas the wife and kids rode me about it so hard that i gave them up. i have since made the change to always wear a shirt with a pocket, i keep my phone in my shirt pocket all the time. that and the wallet case i use there is little chance of a scratch

lol I feel your pain. Ditto.

However I've stuck with mine. It's never on show but hidden under my shirt as mentioned.

I'd rather do this than have a potentially scratched up phone or fluffed up from pocket dust / lint in the ports etc.

One of my work colleagues ribbed me about the holster. I had the last laugh when his phone scratched up in his pocket from a fish safety knife we use at work !

Return the phone and get another one

How can i return it? Claiming what? I got it scratched? or it was scratched? I am not sure they will believe me...or even if the DoA covers that part, which i am not really sure if that 7 days means 7 business days, because i also UNLUCKY that on my 5th day there are 3 holidays in a row, i got the phone last Monday and the next Monday is a holiday

defective on arrival is 7 or 14 days? you think it could be replaced?

From your experiences @gmaister22 I've decided to put something between my temporary tpu case and phone.

My glasses came with a very thin soft cleaning cloth. I've trimmed that down to sit in there.

I agree that the supplier could say it could have been marked up by the owner using a case.

In the U.K Samsung Experience Store I have 30 days to return the phone and have it swapped out if an issue occurs but it's highly unlikely that would cover marks / scratches.

Will try getting it replaced...lets see!

Try saying battery is not good or the phone having wifi issue to doa issue...since these issues are there is s8 duos they would happily exchange your phone...try your luck

They wont test it for the battery or the wifi before replacing it? (i dont have a DUOS)

It's rare for me to get scratches of any sort on my phones, even with no covering. But I did get a light, hard-to-see scratch on the back glass of my S8+, caused by banging against a previously-unnoticed small sharp metal point on a belt buckle dangling near my phone pocket.

I was not willing to lie by returning the phone for a fake reason. However, my phone did subsequently develop the spontaneous reboot problem that several people here have also reported. It's not yet clear whether that comes from hardware or software (or both), but it's a legit defect and I didn't want to hope for an eventual software fix if it turns out to be a hardware problem. So I exchanged it and again have a scratch-free phone (but one fewer belt to wear).

Beats having this long thang in my pocket and scratching it ;)
Yup, just commenting on the leather, not the case as such.

Does your case have a flap on top to keep the phone from slipping out? If so, how does it fasten?

For those that had the note 7 had the same issues, scratching easy. Everone was saying gorilla Glass 5 is suppose to be the best, strongest. I don't know alot about glass, but I'm starting to think maybe gorilla Glass 4 was better, looks like the S8 series is suffering the same results in the scratch Department.

Me and my wife both had scratches on our screen. It did not bother me until I used the VR then it really bothered me. Called T-Mobile and they sending new ones.

Was it under DOA? What did you tell them? What was your request? Replace the phone?

To put this to rest...Gorilla glass has been getting stronger for many years now and the number DOES mean something (although with a new number can also come manufacturing changes, cost. This would explain why many times the back or camera glass plate is a different gorilla glass number). However this is only against bending and breakage and deals with the baking and layering process. That said, the top layer has still remained the same pretty much, and that top layer has had the same hardness level for years. Until this top layer changes, gorilla glass will still have a mid level scratch resistance.

I also wouldn't expect it to change. Unless a softer gel layer with repairable properties like polyurethane was used, going to a harder surface would just make the glass less bendable and crack easier.

They will not replace it for scratches. Once it shows signs of damage or wear they will no longer take it back.

I meant s8 s8+ both models having many issues..u can try your luck by mentioning any one...i think people having reboot loop issue also...

Yup since it was still under T-MOBILE 14 day Grace period still they are sending me and my wife a new phone and we just ship them back our old ones that have scratches. They already sent us the new agreement and is processing the shipment of the new phones.
