Samsung Core Prime sm-g360f not updating, what should I do?

Samsung core prime sm-g360f not updating

I have the Samsung core prime sm-g360f and for some reason it wont update android os. it is running 4.4.4. My husband has one a few weeks newer which is running 5.1.1. why wont mine update to new version, whenever I try it says running latest version of software.

Welcome to Android Central! Did you get the phone directly from your wireless carrier, or unlocked from somewhere else? Is your husband on the same carrier? System updates can be dependent on the carrier, so if you're on a different carrier, that might explain why he has it and you don't.
