Samsung Direct: Galaxy S9/S9+ Official Pre-Order Thread

Just received my S9 and my son received his in DC. I ordered both with Sprint SIMs and BOTH came with Verizon SIMs although the packing list says Sprint in each package. Can't believe the incompetence of Samsung. Spent over an hour on the phone with Sprint who at first said I could use my S7 Sim for the S9 but no, they are incompatible. Then it was almost an hour on the phone to get Sprint to ship me a new S9 sim card. Anyone else get the wrong SIM card?

Just received S9 ordered with a Sprint sim card. Received Verizon sim card instead. Samsung tells me it will be 3 to 5 days until they have a upper management solution. Drag feet long enough so customer deals with problem on their own. I am told it's common problem they are dealing with today.

I would just get one from sprint and see if Samsung can compensate you somehow instead.

The local Sprint store here said that cards will not be available until Friday and they can't guarantee that cards will be available after that date. I hope that is not true.

That explains why they have told me that they will have a solution in 3 to 5 days instead of the solution is. It's like paying for a scooter getting it home and then finding out you might get the keys mailed to you in 3 to 5 days. I have paid in full for the phone. Of course they aren't offering any type of compensation yet.

Yeah, my reply was, "I don't think you understand what a factory unlocked phone is. I'm sure tmobile has a card available."

Ok, got the S9 Unlocked just over an hour ago. Popped my VZ Sim and SD card from my s7E, worked like a champ. The unlocked phone now shows up on MyVerizon and the first big update is downloading now with the apps I selected coming from Google Back-Up as well. No drama at all, as expected...

I'm bored, when does the X come out!
If you get a chance, could you see if WiFi calling works on your unlocked S9+ on Verizon. That's one question I have yet to get a straight answer on. Thanks!

Shocking I ended up pre-ordering the S9+.

Honestly, I did because of the upgrade offer I got $300 instead of $579. The Samsung $100 trade-in credit and 30% off accessories.

I went with Lilac because it's new and different.

Are you already with Sprint? If so, any reason you can't use your current SIM? I'm on T-Mobile and am still using the original SIM card I received when I joined 4 years ago. And I've gone through about 6 phones.

Awesome! Could you try out VoLTE and visual voicemail to confirm this works with Verizon?

My s9+ unlocked for sprint didn't come with a sim at all. Went to local sprint store. They didn't have s9 sim yet so they tried a new s8 sim. It didn't work. They then tried a bring your own phone sim. This worked! Added bonus of unlocked that yall might not know is that download booster hasn't been removed. I don't know if it works yet but it is there.

Wont work this way for sprint. Sprint rep told me today that the sims at locked to the phone they were activated on.

I'm assuming you're responding to me. But that's terrible. I think I would avoid Sprint just for that fact alone. Though, I won't go with Sprint because many of my friends have issues with connectivity in my area anyways. Ugh, either way, what a nightmare.

Yes I was. I've been with sprint since 1999. Us sprint customers are still learning this sim business. Are there some benefit to be able to move a sim from phone to phone other than not having to get a new sim? I'm in Houston and sprint has always been solid here, I understand that its not the best in other parts of the country. I used over 30gb a month so I love my unlimited date. I hardly ever connect to WiFi because I don't have too.

Not the authority on this since I never use it but I did go through the VZ tutorial to check and it appears you need HD Voice which is not on my unlocked version and no options in any menu that I see to turn wifi calling on per the tutorial. Obviously if its critical just buy the VZ version...

To confirm, you don't see HD Voice under Advanced Calling? This likely means no VoLTE for verizon customers.

Ok, VoLTE is enabled and can be toggled on/off in the settings. Visual Voicemail is actualy pretty cool. You don't see anything on the phone so I called and left myself a VM. Normal VM icon notification but when you open it, it takes you to a Samsung VVM app to download , takes 5 seconds and you have VVM on the phone. I think someone posted the icon a page or two back....

Awesome, thanks so much for the info. This helps solidify my decision!
