Samsung Epic EB13 (Froyo) Bugs

No other problems other than having to reinstall EVERYTHING, just the browser. I guess I can make my son get all my achievments back for me on Angry Birds. I'm really going to have to twist his arm.

even after a factory restore your still having problems? Any other problems still there?

I'm on the phone with sprint, they are taking no responsibility what so ever for it, and no credits are being issued even if the update has rendered your phone useless for certain amounts of time. ( at least that is what THIS rep. is telling me).
"Its Samsung's update"

These guys love playing the "Blame Game"
I wish there was something we could all do. Imagine how much money Sprint sucked out of all our pockets. Im not a rich man to be dropping over $200 on a phone, I cant do that once every month. I'm sure some people agree with me here.

Anyone have any ideas on how to amount a mass and voice a general opinion, please let me know.

Epic 4G = EPIC FAIL.

[HELP] Decisions, decisions. Best way to fix the problems in the new Froyo Update?

Hello, I'm new here, so please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong place.

I just recently updated OTA to the new EB13 froyo for my Epic. As of now I'm afflicted by troublesome wi-fi connectivity, and a terribly slow homescreen.

I've been reading around and I've found ways to remedy this problem.
*Factory reset
*Root and get the EXT4 filesystem to speed it up

This is my first android device, so I'm reluctant to try rooting, but if its the best option for the long term, I'll try it.

If these are real issues with the OTA that can be solved with a hard reset, I don't think going to EXT4 will help.

Download odin. Flash to dk28. Download the one click root/clockwork mod installer. Run. Install rom of choice (trulyepic rebirth, ace, cyanogen, midnight, etc etc etc. . TER is my favorite). Be happy and bug free. I have been for months.

Hi the OTA was the only one pulled the update.zip is still up...

Quick question. Since the update has been pulled. What is going to be the method to get the NEW update for those of us who used the update.zip method to get EB13? I was running stock eclair unrooted before I updated to froyo. I will want the latest update but would like to know what is going to happen. An OTA or another update.zip? Or will I have to go back to eclair first?

i hear factory restore/wiping has helped with issues. i have not had many issues so far.
grooverite - i think it is an issue with win 7 64 bit drivers because that happened to me a lot on stock eclair before the update

Ahhhh ok. Yeah, I'm on Win 7 Ultimate 64bit.

That would also explain why I was able to upload a movie to my co-workers laptop with Vista at 13MBs while on my system it hovers between 2 and 4MBs! Anyone know of a fix?? lol

Also, is it just me or is the max volume now lower with froyo EB13? On stock eclair it was significantly louder.

Battery life sucks now!!! I use my phone for an alarm at night, and I go to bed with a fully charged battery, in the past, I would wake up with a 90% charge still on the phone.....now it's 25-30% in the morning!!!!

I checked battery usage, and it looks like Wi-fi might be using up quite a bit of that, so I turned off Wi-Fi and will see how much of a difference that makes.

yes I noticed that too. Also starting to notice Wifi won't keep a good connection now. Emailed Sammy about my browser issue and they responded with:

Calendar Fixed

I had two issues: Google Calendar would not sync & 4G would only stay connected for a few minutes before it switched to "Zzzzzz" mode.

For the Calendar:
Go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/ALL
Select Calendar and CLEAR DATA
Select Calendar Storage and do the same
Go to Calendar and select Settings/Calendar Syc
Select Google Account and toggle the check mark for your Google Accounts off & on again. Voila!

Anybody else have a fix for the 4G issue? Will a hard reset fix this?

Thanks!

Thank you so much for the calendar fix. I've been working on this for hours.

Wish I could help you with the 4G issue.

Hi and welcome to the forum sorry about the long delay... The OTA update was pulled due to prob's with Memory card and Media so far the only way that i know of to fix this is to hard reset the phone (i know its a pain but you will like how well it works after) The Update.zip is still up and causes very little prob.

Guys just so you know also as posted on the OP...

The update.zip was never pulled... just the OTA update its what was causing the probs...

The update.zip is still live and well and causes next to no probs before you do update it though just to be on the safe side remove your memory card and use the included adapter to scan for errors and fix if any...

Help Please

All of the sudden, my internet access stopped(no net, market, app. brain.). Any advice, THANKS!
Running Froyo, rooted... Was having no problems.

I've still got the video camera bug...haven't found new ones but I managed to fix a LOT of them by just doing a factory wipe in Clockwork 3. I also unmounted the SD card and remounted it. That seemed to fix most of the bugs.
