Samsung Note 7 Itch Anyone?

None of that is retail price, which is what I am referring to. Note 7 -$864, overpriced.

That's why I gave an example that the Note 7 could be purchased from a carrier for a little over $200.00 which makes it good deal.
I realize that some folks would not want to sign a two year contract with a carrier just to get a good price on a phone but, I'm not planning on leaving my carrier anytime soon so I don't mind signing one.
I'm with you on the retail price, I would not pay $864.00 dollars for the Note 7 either. Ive never paid over $250.00 for any phone I've owned.

I had a Note 5 that was good but not quite good enough, so I bought a 6P. I will buy the Note 7 but I'm also keeping my 6P. The new Nexuses are not peaking my interest at all.

I loved the Note line (I had a Note 2, then a Note 4), but after owning a 6P, I have no desire to go back to a non-Nexus phone, even though the 7 looks like the best Note so far (especially with the water resistance). Plus, there's no way I'd go back to a carrier branded phone after being on Project Fi.

Yeah never really been interested in the Note series as much as I am for the Note7. That screen is amazing and the phone feels great in hand. I just can't stomach $800+ for the phone and I love being on Fi.

I'm with you on the Nexus thing. I'm not a fan of HTC building them at all, they should've stuck with Huawei.

Definitely, I had the 4, and 5. While the 5 was fast, it wasn't nexus fast.

I have note 5 and 6p. Note 5 as smooth and as fast. People still stuck in old touchwize. Samsung came a long way. It is not a concern anymore.

I have a Note 5 and 6P as well. The only lag I encounter with the Note is with any keyboard I use. Stock, Google, Swiftkey all lag. I've not been able to diagnose and hope the Note 7 can keep up.

Hi, first of all, im an S7 edge, and S6 edge owner. Im reading googles forums to get a feel of their phones because I've had it with verizon and am considering the jump to Google FI. Anyway, if youve never owned a galaxy, youre in for a treat. I had the note 2 & 4. Loved them both but I never used the s-pen. So when the s6 came out I bought the 128 gb version. Its an awsume device EXCEPT for battery life. I don't have issues, but if you're a heavy user, you'll need to recharge during th day. So when the S7 edge came out, I bought it and it's absolutely unbelievable. It is, without a doubt, the very first smartphone I've ever owned that I know will get me through an entire day without recharging no matter what I put it through. So, the note 7 edge is fantastic, but if you feel that your not an S-pen user, save a few bucks and get the S7 edge. It's just the right size too. I'll just wait till google opens up FI to other phones before I climb on board.

I was a Verizon user and left them 7 months ago for project fi. I love how cheap it is for me as I'm always on wifi at home and at work. BUT I have been a note user before and miss it. Wish project fi would open up for other phones, but I highly doubt that is going to happen any time soon.

The big disadvantage is the software. I know Samsung has to build on Android for the note taking features to work but that in turn leaves long delays in upgrading Android.
For now, I'm going to keep my eye on the Nexus 6P and see if the 128 GB will drop below $500.

I understand that, but when I say retail price, I mean retail price, not contract price.

I just bought a 64GB 6P to replace my 32GB one (which is flawless), but I must admit, the Onyx Black Note 7 looks sick.

I've now got both the Nexus 6P (128 GB) and the Samsung Note7 (Black Onyx).

I love that the Note is a lot smaller with the same screen size, and it is without a doubt a beautiful device to hold and use. It's very well balanced, and of course has a beautiful screen.

Having said that, I've done a number of speed tests, and the 6P with Nougat Preview 5 is quicker than the Note7 (Both using Nova launcher and same apps installed), and has better battery life if you factor in extended doze (which I assume will also help the Note7 once it's upgraded to Nougat). The 6P's screen is also beautiful. It's very difficult to tell the difference.

Overall, if you don't need the superior camera, the S-Pen, and a few of the other features, I would not recommend upgrading based on this.

Lucky duck :)

I can say I do want the note 7 but the price tag is making me hesitant. Note 7 looks very premium in my opinion but for now I'll just wait. It kind of reminds me of the iPad pro's pen that adds a hundred dollars to the device but at least Samsung includes the pen.

the note 7 does look fabulous but right now u can't get the unlocked version right? and isn't the Chinese 6 GB RAM version the better? I'd be more tempted if the best version was available. I m waiting to see if the Nexus 6p has a successor or not...

I'm going to second this. I'm disappointed but overall my 6p with dp5 is faster than my note 7. I don't think it is worth the price and will likely be returning my note. The screen and camera are slightly better as is the battery but not enough to make me keep it especially with the final build of 7.0 hitting Monday likely. Just confirms to me nothing beats a nexus. Unless you just have to have the s pen and waterproofing I can't recommend the note over the 6p.

the note 7 gets nougat maybe in a couple months right? Nexus getting it this upcoming Monday? Or are those rumors too good to be true?

Monday for the 6P I believe is official. If it isn't Monday, it will be within a few days of that. As for the Note7, Samsung has made promises before and while they were ok with the Marshmallow rollouts on the S6 family, the carrier's delayed things a fair amount. So it depends on your carrier. Basically if you're on T-Mo or lately Verizon, you should get Nougat fairly quickly after Samsung released it (about 2 months). If you're on AT&T, good luck...
