Screen protector for s10+?

You're going to complain to VZW about the preinstalled screen protector? I highly doubt they would give a damn? It's not VZW fault that the factory protector is crap. But heck, it's better than not having one at all. Or having to install one yourself and having it all fugged up with air bubbles and misaligned... My factory protector is scratched... But I highly doubt it went through the film.

I ordered the Whitestone Dome today for my S10+. I have one on my S9+ and it's been the best I've ever used. Like it's not even there.

Does Dome really protect it from cracking if you drop, or does it mostly protect it from scratches?

The dome is not going to stop the LCD from being damaged from a drop. The LCD is what gives us the picture. It is a separate component to the screen assembly. Then you have your glass on top. But the dome is going to stop scratches and resist cracks to the glass of the screen. So yes, it is much better than the flimsy screen protectors from years ago, that only protect from scratches.

I'll probably try the dome after the pre-installed protector starts to look bad. It's surprisingly nice for a non-glass one. I don't even notice it and I have never used protectors in the past. It's alot less noticeable than the glass ones on my wife and daughter's iPhones that always seem about 1-2 mm too small.

I've always used the Skinomi screen protectors. They are not tempered glass, more like a film but it doesn't scratch at all. It works flawlessly with the fingerprint sensor in my s10+ and you get 2 for around $10. Paying $50 or more for a piece of plastic or tempered glass is ridiculous.

It's not ridiculous when when the glass protects from blows, whereas the film comes don't.

The Whitestone doesn't even have that good of reviews on Amazon. $50 just seems a bit excessive to me when you can get 2 packs of others for 10 bucks, including tempered glass versions.

Look at the reviews on here or YT before what you see on Amazon. If you don't get a glass protector with loca glue, the other cheap ones will leave a gap between the screen and protector, which will wreak havoc on your FPS. But hey, you do what you feel offers the best protection for you. If that means skimping out on screen protection for a $1000 phone, then that's your prerogative.

I purchased the Whitestone Dome glass for my Galaxy S10 plus. I carefully followed the instructions and the screen was very easy to install. After it dried I redid the fingerprint and made sure I turned on sensitive for protective screen. The fingerprint did not work at all. I tried each fingerprint and thumb to no avail. It kept telling me to press harder. When I went to take it off the dome glass shattered so could not be reapplied. After going back to Amazon site and reading all of the reviews that is the biggest complaint about the dome glass is unable to use fingerprint. $50.00 lost on this one.

No, he is right! Its ridiculous to spend that much on a glass screen protector. I've been using both film and glass protectors and I've never had a broken glass with the film even after plenty of drops on the street, at the gym and so on. The glass ones however have had hairline cracks just from placing it hard on my desk or falling off my living room table. We are not skimping out on protecting our phone. We are just smart about how and where we spend our money!

It will crack and then you'll have to spend ANOTHER $50 to get a replacement. Stick to cheaper glass protectors or even film which protect your screen just the same.

I agree with him and don't mind paying that much for a glass screen protector IF it works properly with the FPS. I've had plenty of drops that crack my glass screen protector and saves the actual phone glass.

With all the bad reviews I don't understand why people are still purchasing them, especially at that cost. Verizon's $30 insurance screen replacement is good enough for me until something else comes out.

My experience is much the same. I've read many posts saying the FPS works flawlessly with the Dome but I don't see it. I've used the Dome on my last several phones and am a big fan of it and know how to properly install it, so it is not a result of incorrect installation. I'm going to keep the Dome on as it is the best protector on the market IMO. It isn't that big of an issue as I use Smart Lock with my Galaxy Watch which I always have on, and with my F-250 when I'm driving and it is connected to the Sync system, so I rarely am prompted to use my fingerprint anyways. Still sucks to have the feature not work like it is supposed to. It was working flawlessly with the factory applied screen protector.

OK back to the topic, what, non glass screen protectors are working with the FPS? Don't care to use Whitestone, my phone my choice, but I do want a protector on it. The factory installed one got a little nick in it and I through it was a chip in the screen so I pulled it off and screen is still good. But now I need something on there and I can't find the Samsung one on their site.

If you don't need it to be a tempered glass, Skinomi is a great screen protector. I have had it on my S10+ since launch day and have had no issues.

Fair point, but it's worth noting that a cracked screen is usually on the order of $200 to replace, and there's a good chance that your credit card already offers you insurance to cover that. My Uber Visa card, for example, has $600 in mobile phone insurance (two claims per year) as long as I pay my bill with the card.

What I wonder is why Samsung doesn't offer a glass screen protector for their own phone. My barrier is not the $50, but the fact that I have to install it myself and risk throwing that $50 down the drain if I mess up. I'd much rather pay Samsung $50 to ship my phone with a glass screen protector pre-installed.

The screen is much more than $200 to replace because of the fingerprint sensor

These apparently work

Any of the wet applied plastic film should work.....the key is eliminating air between the protector and the glass

Perfect thanks. Went with the IQ shield only because I've used them in the past. Only hoping my polarized sunglasses doesn't give me psychedelic colors like the factory one did.

I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that the stock protectors continue to look/work invisibly. If I had to replace one I feel like I'd prolly just give up on the fps working but I might might try a Whitestone Dome just for the good appearance and some protection. But $50‐$80 is a lot relative to the competition.
