SD Card Notification keeps popping up - Help !

Yes, I used smart switch to put the data from S6 into the S7, and the Sd card and the bloody planner thing to pops up on restart just the one. I formatted the Sd in phone.. Not keen on factory reset...

I just posted the problem in three of there Facebook pages that has to do with galaxy s7 and s7 edge. You can find it under visitors post on the left of there page. We need to be heard and they need to give us a solution.

The problem with my S7 edge was definitely that it's not compatible with cards that are UHS-3 compatible. It might be software related but my phone does not like the Samsung Evo plus, pros or even my SanDisk 200gb which are all UHS-3 compatible. I'm currently using a Samsung 128gb Evo and have no issues with it. I have also used a 32 and 64 gb Evo and they work perfectly.

Evo+ and the SanDisk 200gb are UHS-1, not UHS-3. Anyways people have had issues, myself included, with UHS-1 as well.

On my returned S7, which popped the baddy on all UHS rated cards I tried, I got an older Class-10 card to play nice, though. So I do agree with you it COULD be UHS speed incompatibility. Most handsets are not affected, they will take ANYTHING including UHS-3 & UHS-1. I think I'm leaning toward tray issue.

One thing I was wondering if someone wanted to try is to "scuff" up the contacts on your sd card a bit. You could do this with some kind of fine sad paper, I mean very fine and very lightly, just to remove any oxidation and give the phone a chance to better make contact. It was going to be my next thing to try. Even one of those magic erasers (but use it dry) would work, but with that you would go kind of hard because it's basically like million grit sand paper.

Yuuuuuuupppppp.....that sounds like Samsung to me: "there's no problem Sir/Ma'am; you're imagining things." Sad, but true. Time to start hounding them with tickets.

lol a lot of companies are like that....Apple is the worst to addressing common issues a lot of people have....majority of the time they are never addressed

I've been following this discussion and read every post. Sorry to see that this problem is happening as I know I'd be frustrated. Have a Note 5 64GB model, so at this point I am exempt from the problem, but can relate having used external SD cards for years in various BB, and Android phones (Galaxy S3, Note 2-4).

Even so, lot's of good troubleshooting, hypotheses, and trail/error thus far. It may have already been tried or mentioned earlier - if not - then, if someone has an OTG USB adapter that can hold an SD card that should help remove the the phone's SD card tray from the equation. Assumes that an OTB USB adapter with an SD card slot does not have a tolerance problem.

To solve that, a OTG USB adapter with a built in internal storage would be even more ideal. That should help to isolate and reduce the variables down to file system formatting, or storage type compatibility (although the OTB USB interface with the phone's USB port does introduce another new variable).

It's the tray. Need small tabs to secure cards correctly. Its recognizable every time you slide the tray out. Those cards move around in there like a 2 year old you've asked to sit still. Ain't happening.

Samsung needs to send everyone out a new metal Sim/SD tray as these cheap @ss plastic ones suck.

My S7 Edge allows me to use my Samsung 64GB sd card so it can't be the tray. But I still get the notifications AND it won't let me transfer apps to the sd card. Curiously enough, it does house apps previously put on it. So I copied what was on the card and now it won't let me format the card. Same sort of thousand yard stare with no go button. That is, just as with transferring apps, I get the page showing it is transferring or formatting but there is no execute.

Without this ability, I may have to turn the thing in. Lovely phone but that doesn't work. Period.

It's not the tray. I have an S7 and an S7 edge. I have the SD card issue with my edge, but not with the S7. I am using the same SD card in both phones. So that eliminates the SD card and the tray being the issue as not phones use the same identical SIM trays. I tried everything to fix this. I reformatted the SD card, shut off the UI notifications and factory reset the S7 edge and the problem still persists. It's either a hardware issue with the S7 edge or a software bug consistent with just the S7 edge. Either way, it's freakin' annoying.

Done. This problem isn't getting enough publicity imo. Also replying to someone else's facebook comment/issue, which I have done yesterday, still gets you a support rep fast, but DOESN'T "bump" the post to the top. If we can keep making NEW posts on their facebook, multiple per day, I think that will help greatly.

Does this mean your new phone is infected with the annoying notifications as well?!

It is GREAT to see all the recent posts on their Support page @ facebook filled with people complaining about the SD problem. That is exactly what we need.

I was having 0 issues with the SD notification prior to the latest Verizon update, and now it pops up every couple of hours or so.

Clearly a software issue and not a hardware issue as I was having no problems prior.
