Seems like a GPe version would be ideal.

Great hardware. Software is underwhelming and gimmicky, just like S4 and Sense. And for serious pictures, I use a Sony RX100 with an EyeFi card. I like the button locations. My HTC One's volume buttons are always getting accidently pushed.

Give me a GPe version and 64G and I'd pay for that.

Indeed. This would be the best of the Google Edition phones if they released it since it has onscreen buttons, making it the best contender for a true nexus experience. Too bad LG said they have no plans to release a Google Edition. I'd be on this in a second if they did. Petition time lol.

Sorry but I like a lot of the ideas the software is putting forward, things like camera button and quick notes on the back buttons. Also LG has done a lot of work on doing things like giving the G2 the ability to play true loss less audio FLAC files and if that stuff gets lost on a Google play edition you can count me out.

Google has accommodated several items between S4 and One, so I can see them taking advantage of HD audio, and camera button. But, if LG says no GPe, then forget it.

That's what HTC said and see what happened! I'm personally hoping this would be the base of the new nexus! If motorola makes that, its probably going to be **** compared to this!

That is true but we all knew they were going to do it. HTC is in way too deep financially to not give people what they want. Plus the leaks were super strong at that time to suggest otherwise.

LG, while not being a leader in smart phones , is not doing bad financially and their G series does well overall. They don't have to release a Google Edition if they don't want to. There also are zero leaks or rumors saying it's even a thought at this point and in this industry that's hard to avoid.

The only reason companies are somewhat against GE is because they feel it doesn't create brand loyalty as much as it caters to the purist crowd. This argument is somewhat true since nexus owners for the most part will buy whatever the next nexus is despite the brand because it's all about the software. OEM's use skins to create brand loyalty ('my Android phone has a software feature that yours doesn't' type of arguments.

Personally I really hope they do release one. Battery size and onscreen buttons is worth it alone and no one else will release a nexus with that size battery.
