I noticed yesterday that my signal meter started reflecting the correct amount of 'bars' compared to my actual signal level. The first few days after owning the phone, I would only show 1 bar, but excellent signal. Particular issue seems to be resolved for me...

Anyone else?

Funny, I just looked at my phone, it was showing full signal bars but -63 dbm. I always forget whats stronger...the smaller the number or the larger. What shoudl full signal bars read for actual dbm strength?

-50 is stronger than -100. It seems like something has changed with the signal strength, not sure yet though. Now that you mention it, I rarely see 0 bars anymore.

Is the 3G supposed to keep going on/off? Or is that a bug? None of my other Android phones do it, including the Moto Droid.

I dont know if its true, but i read that someone thought the 3G connection would go off after about 20 minutes of idle time. So yeah, this would help with the battery life....but hell, doesn't make much difference with this damn battery.

No change for me, and I definitely get worse radio reception with this phone than with my Blackberry (signal in my house is pretty crappy anyway but the curve seemed to hold out longer).

I think the phone probably has fine reception, it's just a software glitch with the meter, or an overly sensitive meter, something to that effect. My Storm aways registers 5 bars but the wifes Eris in the same area will only have 3-4. Either way both sound the same receiving and sending calls and everything works well. But I have yet to see a difference between 1 bar and 5 bars as far as calls are concerned. In my area once you drop below 2 bars your data connection will drop from 1XEV to 1X though.

I have more bars since two days ago. I was getting zero bars at home, now it's consistently two or three. Same signal strength and call quality. Maybe there was a fix for some.

Are we making too much of the "bars"...I walked around work (where we have a Verizon repeater onsite)....and at one point I had 2 bars and my signal was -41dBm and later I had full four bars and my signal was at -67dBm...

Next to the battery life indicator.

OR:

Menu > Settings > About Phone (at the bottom) > Network and it's under signal strength.

Thanks....wasn't looking for the first but definitely the latter!!

I am so not getting notifications of replies even though it's enabled.
