signing into google account

when i go to Google play store and try to update any app, i get a message that says "Authentication is required, you must sign into your Google account." But I am signed into my google account. So what is the problem?

Do you have 2 step verification turned on?

will it work if i turn it on? or are you saying that if it is on, that may be why it is not working?

The second. When you sign into your google account on a new computer, do you have to receive a code on your phone and then type it in?

nope. i researched 2 step verification now, and no, i do not have it yet, so that is not why google play store says i need to sign in.
