Single notifications

Does anyone know if there is a way to have a single notification alarm set?

To clarify, I have notifications set for email. I want to hear the audible notification once, and not be reminded (by hearing several times) before I go in and clear the notification.

I thought at one time I saw a setting for it but for the life of me cannot find it anymore.

Any help?

If you are talking about your gmail account, go into gmail, then settings. The last option is notify once, that should help.

Gmail app you can, if you use Gmail through messaging application then nope. It annoys the hell out of me especially when I am sleeping.
