Slow EVO 3G speeds

Hmmm,
While I was tethering, these were my results....

My 3G speed at Full bars:

My 4G speed at 1 bar (Bad signal at home)

Really Bad 3G speed compared to my friend's EVO...
His Evo is going 1.23mbps on 3G while I was barely at .10
Disappointing.... I beleive its a device problem since were doing
the test at the same time, same location etc.

Later on, I might do the 3G hack to improve my performance :P
That's pretty slow, those 3G ping times are way too high. it makes me feel good about my 800mb dl and 600mb ul. Now if I can get my airraive to stop dropping out then I would be a happy camper.

I just tried some before and after testing on my EVO and had some help testing network speeds on a friend at lunch and his EPIC.
Our network speeds were about the same, piss poor, i tried the changes several times (http as metnioned above) with no improvement.
Now the good news is, its not my phone, at least in this case because his EPIC was also getting really slow results.
used the same SpeedTest.net app, same severs. Also tried to use a couple different ones with slow results.

Ping times were all under 400ms, but DL speeds ranged from 45kb to 400kb. Whats interestign is most of the time, on both our phones, UL speeds were faster then DL speeds.

One thing that might explain why speeds are occasionally slow is because the HTC software does not display 1x when the phone is not connected to EVDO. 1x is approx 200k-300k. If you're getting speeds in that range, then most likely you're not connected to EVDO.

So although by default the phone only displays EVDO, it may not actually be connected to EVDO. This is why a reset or airplane mode toggle "trick" seems to work as the connection bounces and successfully connects to EVDO afterwards.

Its EVDO. I have a netwok Widget that shows me signal strength, carrier and EVDO or 1X connection type.

Can someone help me with this...I am trying to do the msl hack but I am not finding http pd proxy port or address when I go into edit mode...my options under rtsp/http settings are...rtsp proxy IP, RTSP proxy port, HTTP proxy IP, and HTTP proxy port

With the latest PRL my phone received yesterday, I can barely use my internet. The 01115 was bad but 60679 seems worse yet.
