So my S5 has decided to no longer want to boot to OS and when I power it on it goes to the Samsung screen and then straight to download mode with out any other buttons being pushed other than POWER. the first time I held VOL - and Power and got out now I hold Vol - and Power and it goes right back into download mode. I cant go into recovery mode or safe mode it only goes to download mode I finally said alright I'm going to root it and I got

ODIN: Flash read failure
after some research I read it might be AT&Ts bootloader being locked that is stopping me from rooting it.
any suggestions on getting it to boot on its own or on getting it to root so I can give it to my son to use since he broke his phone and I don't want to shell out any cash for another I don't care about the data on the phone but would like to be able to use it again
