So... All day battery life???

in my experience the main battery drainage is from weak service. that's why some people get 4 hours SOT and some 6. If I stay at home I will easily rack up 6+ hours SOT and 16+ standby, but if I was having a day of commuting it would cut that battery life by almost half. Also, just because you have 4 bar of service doesnt mean it is a strong signal.

Yeah, today has been probably my heaviest day with my Note 9 so far, as it was a day off for me, and I spent a fair portion of the day downloading various games, and playing one new one for several hours. Off the charger at around 8 am today, it is just after 11:00 PM and I am still at 51% (and still have a few hours till bed). For standby time I think it is beating the iPhone X it replaced, with active use I think it is a bit closer but still beating it.

Edit: finally going to bed, nearly 30% left.

A couple of notes...
- First, iPhone comparisons are not valid, they have a long documented history of slow battery loss at the high end, and then rapidl loss as the battery gets low. This is likely programming on how the indicator displays the %'s in order to deceive you into believing the battery is fuller than it really is. The last 30% of an iPhone tends to fall like a large rock.

- Second, batteries (and the OS) have to settle in. Give them a week, before making harsh judgments.
- Finally... just because this bothers me... why does the color of the wallpaper matter when you are a heavy user? How much actual "heavy use" do you spend with the wallpaper showing? What difference does the color the wallpaper make when you have candy crush, youtube and anything else on the screen all day.

People who can't get at least one day out of this phone either have a bad device, something going crazy on the phone, or need to re-evaluate their lives and stop using it so much.

This.... at work my Pixel 2 XL done usually 30% by 5:00 and at home 50% at end of day. Huge difference.

Battery life is easily the best thing about this phone for me. And I'm a super power user. I email and blog from my phone and run 10+ social media accounts from my phone. Plus I go to gym and watch Netflix for an hour then listen to music for another hour or so. Not to mention I stream music whenever I'm in my car. Or use the GPS.

Yesterday for example, I took phone off charger at around 10AM and at around 7PM the battery was at like 10 percent which I am totally fine with due to my heavy activity and usage.

I've been leaving phone unplugged all night while I sleep just to test things out and only see like a 5 percent droppage. Which is pretty solid for 8 hours approximately of it being unplugged. So if you were to times that by 3 {24 hours), the battery life could easily last a complete day with minimum usage. But for me, I consider a day to be 8 to 10 hours since usually within 8 hours id have access to a charger of some kind anyway if I needed a boost.

I think when Samsung said all day battery, they meant in the literal sense that it is in fact possible. But the majority of us will probably never actually reach that 24 hour threshold due to our usage and I'm fine with that.

are you using the Facebook app or viewing Facebook through a browser? One of my biggest battery drains seems to be Facebook and through the years I have read That's one of the biggest offenders... I am trying to decide if better battery life comes from using Facebook through browser instead of the app..

I used the simple app for Facebook, it is basically the mobile web version, but I like having an app and i get messages without having to install messenger. LOL

Mine is not even close to all day. I'm at 24 percent right now. 4 hours 11 minutes on screen time. Phone came off charger at 530 am it is now 3:25. So by 5 it will be back on the charger. Maybe that's good?

I’m pretty happy with these stats, but I don’t use my phone anywhere near as much as most of you. Usually I listen to a few hours of streaming audio, but didn’t do that today.

Mine has been decent but not as good as I expected it to be. For my usage patterns, it is on par with the iPhone X I came from but not close to the older Iphone Plus models I used in the past. On a slow day for me I would see well over 50% remaining but when I travelled with it Tuesday, I tried to hammer it and see what kind of life I would have left. I was down into the low 20% range at a little over 12 hours off the charger and still had to do a client dinner and some navigation. I hit the charger for a bit to help out and to insure I had enough battery. I haven't had the opportunity to run it completely down all day yet but will try soon.

Wait until the "newness" wears off a bit. I guaranty your usage will stabilize and it will blow away any notion the iPhone had better battery life.

And what did you prove? On a slow day you were well over 50% then you travelled and "hammered" on it for 12 hours ending somewhere low 20%. You say the battery is decent but not as good as iPhones of the past. I'm sure you weren't doing the same "exact" thing with the iPhones as what you deliberately were doing with the Note. From what I'm reading the note did just fine. If you weren't intentionally trying to wear down the battery you may have had enough juice for your dinner without the need of a bump charge.

Yesterday was the first day I had my Note pretty much all set up and used it normally and i had great battery life - on at 7am, never charged once during the day and still had about 10% left at 10pm. Never could get through a full day with similar heavy use on my S8+.

I agree. I'm going on 14hrs 23 min off the charger, with 3hr 55 min screen on time and I'm at 35%. Maybe that is good but I am coming from a Pixel 2 XL and I would get about 3 hrs screen on at about 50% and would get consistently 6 SOT.

I never got 6 hours SOT with my Pixel 2XL and am getting much better with the Note 9 comparatively speaking. But, we aren't using our devices the same so YMMV. Admittedly, the first 2 days my battery was draining quick but has settled down noticeably since.
