So I tried to return my Nexus.

All that means is that the management at those stores will accept returns on phone or internet sales. I have been told explicitly by customer service that whether or not a store will take back a phone that you have ordered via phone or internet that it is up to the discretion of the management.

the rep that sent me out the bionic told me i could return it at the store if i didn't like it.

we can argue this point all night, but the fact is, verizon policies seem to be "at will".

Store was 100% in the right according to published policy.

Return/Exchange Procedures

I work for a department that has a lot of policies. Once in a while we waive them. The customers that EXPECT a policy waiver are the customers who we enforce policy to the letter. That's where your sense of entitlement gets you.

I've never been denied returning an online purchase from any company I've ever purchased from at their B&M location. That is until now.

A word from an ex employee, they were being lazy and didn't want to take the hit. Everything you return hurts them.

completely irreverent. Verizon has waived their policies for me 9 times out of 10.

No entitlement here buddy. I went to the store, was very courteuos & polite. I didn't argue when they said no. As for their policy stating a return can only be made via FedEx, when would I have read that? It wasn't presented to me as I made the purchase. Nope. The policy is written in the little brochure that comes in the same packaging as your phone. A little late if you ask me.

You can get better prices online, though.

I purchased my phone directly from Verizon for the same price I would have paid in store.

But the problem is your returning a phone that for all intense purpose u decided to rent and now u want a store to accept the return and take a hit because u feel like u want another phone to try.

It's posted online and it's also presented to you at the end of the checkout process. If you didn't read it it's your problem, not theirs.

Irrelevant? Do you understand the words you use?

Their RETURN POLICY, is completely relevant when we're discussing, you know, returns. Just because you don't want to acknowledge it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

And for the OP; try finding a higher volume store, because they should be more willing to accept the 'hit' from the return since their sales will make up for it.

They are not subjective. It is at the discretion of the manager.

We can say this as many times as we want, but he clearly thinks that since he's never had a problem that he's right and it's not true that it returns are subject to managerial discretion.

Got to love that type of attitude. I'm going to do it because I can, not because I have too.

the point still eludes you.

it's called being a smart consumer. btw, know plenty of folks that have experienced the same ;)

In retail, returns usually come out of the sales for the day. It was probably going to hurt the manager's sales quota.

That said, why would anyone buy anything from Verizon? Go somewhere where there isn't a restocking fee.

Do you work for VZW or own their stock or something? You've got quite the attitude.

No. I'm just sick and tired of people on here ignoring what is clearly posted in multiple places on Verizon and other retailer's websites, and then acting like the world owes them everything on a silver platter when their ignorance comes back to bite them in the ass.

No, its called being the type of consumer that gets you blacklisted from a retailer for abusing their policies.

And since the english language seems not to be your strong point, how about you explain what your 'point' is?
