so since all carriers are accepting the return of the note 7 Is the V20 the clear choice?

Re: so since all carriers are accepting the return of the note 7....

What I first got my v10, I could go almost an entire day on a full charge.
After the update, I swapped out batteries 3 times a day.... NO LIE!

Did you do the recommended factory reset?

What update "destroyed" battery life? What carrier were you on?

A couple years ago I had a Samsung Galaxy S3 where the Android update killed the battery life, to the point where it was unusable. No one would take responsibility, so I took it back to Costco and got my money back...and swore off Samsung stuff for the rest of my life. They earned my never doing business with them ever again.

I have V10--T-Mobile. I got it used last November, from some guy in the hood who overextended himself. (I think his account is still in arrears on this phone, because T-Mo says he still owes money and that's why they won't unlock it--but they'll happily let ME use it.)

When Android 6 came out, I stayed away because of my Samsung experience. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But then six or eight weeks later, after many good reports here, I went with the upgrade--and all was well. No battery life problems, nothing. (Some people did report such, but the general consensus was that a factory reset solved those problems.)

I would say, V20 is the answer. iPhone 7 isn't, not until 7S at the earliest (never get the first gen of a new Apple unit), and Google Pixel doesn't give me SD card capability so it's not the answer.

Headphone jack? Check. Android 7? Check. All the LG software like Bridge? Check.

And if the unlocked version plays nice with T-Mobile's visual voicemail and wifi calling, then I'd say yes, V20 is the answer.

Another answer might be to wait to see what Samsung does for Note 7 owners. I would think they'd fall on their sword and give you something else, if not your money back.

I got the phone in DEC. It was running great. No issues, great battery life, no call issues. Soon after was the android update via Verizon. That's when it went downhill. Battery was the worst then the dropped calls and breaking up came into play. It honestly ruined the phone for me and I couldn't Brag and defend the v10 enough before that.

Yes that didn't help. Verizon even sent me a replacement.... Same thing. I'm sure it had to do with the update. Others were complaining too.

You'd hate to make an $800 headphone jack mistake.

Yes, that and no expandable memory along with less customization than android and limited apps and of course having to put music ect on via iTunes instead of drag and drop.

Forget the pixel if it does not have an SD card slot.

Best battery test we have so far is this: Battery life tests - GSMArena.com

I really dont trust user reports, because we all use our phones differently, even down to the background settings or the type of email program, that can affect battery life. So I only trust these independent test that set phones equally each time.

Aren't they the same size?

Anyway: nobody knows if the V20 is missing the battery life. We don't know until it's out in the hands of consumers. And you can't judge battery life purely by battery size. Software optimizations can do wonders, and it's a whole new processor compared to the V10, so...

Reviews already state it. 1440p LCD, extra display, DACs to push high impedance headphones with a 3200mah battery. Of course battery life is going to be rough. It is what it is.

Nothing in firmware can make that better. Nougat only helps for sleep mode. Something touted with Marshmallow as well.

Hothardware posted one too with a lot of detail and correlates with GSM. Both solid sites for reviews. Not seeing how sub par battery life would be a surprise, considering the hardware.

Don't care what reviewers say about something as subjective as battery life.

Reviewers should stick to objective facts. No one can tell, on average, how well the battery will behave until it's out there in the wild. A reviewer playing with the gadget for a day or two can't speak to battery life at all in any way that's meaningful to someone buying a long-term purchase.

yeah, your LG experience is just like my Samsung experience. I'd be gunshy, too.

Loving my N7 but if I have to give it up, I'll definitely be getting a V20.

What about the Google pixel? How does that compare to the v20?

That's the million dollar question. ;)

I think it compares quite well, but it's also pretty "basic" in comparison to the Note 7 or V20 when it comes to "features". If we're being totally honest though there is not really a flagship that is BAD now. They each have trade-offs when compared to each other though.

I'm on T-Mobile so the V20 is the logical choice for me. That or iPhone.

I'll have a Pixel on my work line which is AT&T.

No, but I didn't ask, I have a few spare phones....

Did they offer you a loaner? I have no phone really other than a POS Lumnia 640 Windows phone......

And they will allow you to get another phone..... Is the V20 the clear choice?

The Huawei P9 Plus is a good phone with micro SD card, good Leica optics and good battery life. But I think it is not available in the States.

I read 5 stars reviews about the phone on Amazon. It is cheaper than both the Note 7 & the V20
