So when will pre orders ship? Predictions?

I will look into it. This is will be the first time I order from Samsung

for many years, i did the TMobile "Jump" program where i essentially only pay a monthly rental fee for the phone, trade it in at the end of its life (12 months), and get the next Samsung top-of-the-line Sxx Ultra phone.

then, around 2 years ago, their Jump program became a lousy deal all of a sudden. at that time, i decided to buy directly from Samsung - the initial year was costly, as i didn't have a phone to trade in for the purchase of a brand new, just introduced phone from Samsung, but the years after that initial year are less costly as there is a reasonable trade in allowance.

this year, i'm hoping that they will do the same thing: give us a decent trade in allowance for our S21 Ultra, and pay a reduced price for the new S22 Ultra.

that's a long way of saying: currently, for me, going directly to Samsung is the way to go.

I've never ordered from Samsung before -- except for things like screen protectors for my S10 -- but their customer service was quite good, even then. I usually order devices online (i.e., from the Google Store or Newegg) as often as I can. I feel like carriers are more akin to leeches than helpful when it comes to buying/ordering/paying off phones.

That's true about carriers. Mine is Verizon and lemme tell you that even when you have half the money to pay half of the phone, they will say no! Lol

samsung.com generally works well. just don't expect to ask the people who answer their 800 number any questions. they know literally nothing in addition to what we all see on their ordering pages. zilch.

talking with them is equal to reading the ordering page yourself!

LOOL thank you for letting me know! I tend to avoid making phone calls if it's an option -- so ordering online is how my introverted self gets things done!

My goal, as many have already mentioned in this thread, is not to have to talk to a Samsung CS rep either on chat or on the phone during my pre-order process.

Worst case for those of us that order immediately once the phones are up on Samsung's website, we may lose out on the $50 pre, pre-order credit (as I don't remember it being applied until 24 hours or so until after the phones came out).

Am still expecting a $150 accessories credit for ordering the S22 Ultra, and trading in my S21 Ultra. Reports are we could be getting a $750 trade-in credit for our S21 Ultras.

$150 in accessories credit will cover the two 45 watt charging bricks I need, so I'm not too worried about the other $50.

So will Samsung just be officially announcing the s22 series. Or will pre-orders actually begin on 2/9/22?

@Pags22: i don't quite understand how for those of us who "reserved", whatever that means, would end up LOSING our $50!

we put in our email address and it said we'd get a $50 credit. why wouldn't they have it the moment the S22 Ultra is ready for ordering on their site?

confused.

What I'm saying is if you pre-order your phone immediately when the phones are on the Samsung site after the launch, in year's past the extra $50 isn't typically applied until about 24 hours after the phones come out.

For me I just want to pre-order the S22 Ultra right when it comes out vs. making sure I wait and get the extra $50 accessories credit.

Hopefully they will have adjusted the process this time around and the $50 will be in there, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I was told the $50 credit for pre-registration cannot be used toward phone.

As for me, I will hold off ordering for at least a week to see some reviews and make my decision. Might even hold off for some actual user reviews vs. the reviews by the professional reviewers that basically take some photos and tell you the features, etc.

@pags11: thanks for your clarification.

may i follow up by asking: if we placed our S22 Ultra order during the first several hours when the phone shows up on their website, i.e. shortly after this Wednesday's annoucement/event, and IF we don't see a $50 early reservation credit, and we still go ahead to place our order for the S22 Ultra, does it mean we've lost out on the $50? OR, might Samsung recognize this a day or two later and then somehow ADD BACK the $50 a few days later? or, no such luck, if we placed the order before the $50 shows up, then we'd lose the $50 benefit?

what's the downside of waiting one day to place the order for the S22 Ultra? would one day make that much of a difference?

who's to say that Samsung would add the $50 benefit one day after the phone starts showing up on their website? what if they take several more days before they add back the $50? then, we'd have to place a "trial order" and attempt to place an order for the S22 Ultra every day until one day, magically, the $50 shows up?

PS: lots of sites are now saying that the Buds PRO model, same as the ones given last year with the S21 Ultra, will also be given out for free (bundled) with the S22 Ultra.

I wonder what we all will do with yet another pair of the Buds PROs?

For $50 extra accessories credit you need to wait for pre-order invitation email from Samsung. Usually comes on the release day or on the next day. When you will click on the link in the email to pre-order, it will automatically apply the $50 credit plus any pre-order bonus.

This is 100% accurate, yes.

Unless you wait for the email with the $50 extra embedded in it, you have two options. Forget the extra $50 accesory credit...or run risking years of your life calling or chatting with Samsung CS agents. It is my goal to never have to speak with one of those agents again, as I currently have nightmares about them and my previous experiences.

From what I'm reading people in countries outside the U.S. will get the Buds Pro credit. Most likely our's will be a $150 accessory credit for those that order the S22 Ultra.

@kide#WN: oh wow, thanks. so the KEY is to wait for the pre-order invitation email!!!

gosh, what if that pre-order invitation email doesn't come on Feb 9th, the day of the Samsung announcement event?

then, we'd have no idea HOW MANY DAYS we need to wait for that invitation email to arrive!

with all the talk of major chip shortage, might there be a real reason to NOT wait for the invitation email and, like some others have said, forgo the $50 in hopes that we got our orders in early? sort of like: the early bird get the worm.

maybe those who wait another day or two will end up not getting their S22 Ultras on Feb 24th!

essentially, the question is: if the pre-order invitation email does NOT arrive on Feb 9th, the day of the Samsung presentation, should we wait till we get the email to order? or, should we simply forgo the $50 and order immediately in hopes that the chip shortage won't affect us adversely?

I would also recommend ordering your phone through the Rakuten app. Typically they up the cash back percentage on the day of the release. I believe I got 5% cash back last year, for literally doing nothing other than clicking a few more buttons to get to the Samsung site through the Rakuten app.

will we end up ordering via the Samsung.com site ultimately, or, will we be actually ordering via the Rakuten app?

also, instead of using the phone's Rakuten app to do this "click through", what if we prefer to order via a PC? is it ok to go on Rakuten's website instead of using the Rakuten app as you suggested please?

thanks.

You will be ordering via Samsung's site directly using the Rakuten app. Using a PC that has the Rakuten extension on it (you can download it for free) also works.

Two years ago there were issues the first hour ordering via a mobile device with Samsung, but that was at 12 AM EST. Last year you could order it directly after the unpacked event and everything went smoothly.

@pags11: thanks.

"first hour ordering issues at 12AM EST": that's an odd time to start ordering, isn't it? that would be BEFORE the Samsung Unpacked event! how and why would they have the phones on their sites for sale approximately 10 hours PRIOR to the event? these events are usually EST 10am start time, and around 11am or 11:30am finish time, so 12am EST would be 10 to 11 hours PRIOR to the event finishing.

ordering it immediately after the unpacked event makes sense. that means that DURING the unpacked event, they would put the phones on the samsung.com site.

how do you get back the 5%, btw? is it merely a credit to your Rakuten account? i no longer use Rakuten, even since they changed from buy.com to Rakuten, so getting 5% credit to a Rakuten account wouldn't do me any good.
