So, why aren't you getting the 3/3 XL?

All the useful features specific to the P3 launch are coming to P2 via software updates after a period of time. I would like not having to use an adapter for wireless charging but that alone isn't worth the price.

All the camera features are not coming

With 5G phones coming next year, prob wise to skip this year especially if you already have the Pixel 2.

My OG Pixel 128GB is doing just fine on Pie at 2 years old.. I don't see enough reason to upgrade, maybe next year

Pixel 2XL is still running like a champ. Plus I'm (mostly) on an every other release cycle...started with Nexus S, skipped the Galaxy, got the Nexus 4, skipped the 5 and 6, got the 6P, skipped the Pixel and now with the 2XL.

Nothing that exciting over the 2. I bought the 2 with the idea that I could keep it for 4 years (until a new version came out and I wouldn't get it), then I'd see if there was any reason to update. If they had come out with real AI (not a better Android Assistant, but a version of Android that could think) and it wouldn't run on the 2, then yes, but the 3? Doesn't set my heart aflutter. And I don't update just to have the newest phone.

So I went to a Best Buy yesterday and put my Pixel 2 XL right next to a Pixel 3 XL. The display is certainly much sharper, and the camera I'm sure is going to be even better. Bringing back wireless charging is certainly a good thing. But, that notch just sticks out there in front of me against the white demo screen. Battery life not being any better, same amount of RAM, and because of that glass back, more fragile. Unless my phone starts to crap out in the next few months, I'm happy and content with it to last me another year. Besides, I need a laptop more than a new phone right now...Pixelbook or Pixel Slate anyeone? :D

Poster didn't say "all" he said "useful" which means for some the functions coming to the P2 are the main ones they want or will use aka useful to them.

I realize what the poster said. Since they generalized, I decided to point out for the sake of others that not all of the camera features are coming to the 2.
Also, though you may be correct in his meaning behind useful that's not exactly clear.

I love the Pixelbook. I think you get more for your money. Plus tent mode and keyboard included. I love my PB.

Me too....I rarely open my Windows laptop
I sold my surface 3 to put towards my PB. Also a 2011 MacBook Pro. With the £250 off as a sale price I paid £399 for mine in August. With Linux apps and Crossover I have MS Office 2007 installed and LibreOffice and I have Photoshop CS2 installed as well. Basically my PB does everything I need it to do.

I have now got playground installed on my Pixel 2XL. It is fun. Like AR stickers from before.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check this out!

I knew about the Linux apps, but didn't know about Crossover...good to know! You're just full of great ideas. :) My Macbook Pro (also a 2011, 15-inch) crapped out. Logic board was replaced before, but it looks like it's failed again. I can't justify getting a comparable MBP with its price ($2.3k, at least) and issues. I'm leaning more and more with the Pixelbook. If I pull the trigger, it's either the 256GB or the 512GB if I can swing it. :D

Pixelbook, for sure, unless you're really itching for a tablet or interested in developing primarily for tablets.

1. My Pixel 2 XL's warranty will run out about the same time as it would for the Pixel 3/3XL were I to upgrade.
2. Many of the most enticing upgrades (to me) are still coming to the 2 XL. The nicer screen, super Rez zoom, and 600MHz band are attractive (the latter being meaningful to me as a T-Mobile user) but only made the phone worth considering, not enough to upgrade given the cost because...
3. Google shortchanged the trade-in value by a huge amount compared to last year. They are offering far less value for a Pixel 2 XL than they did for a Pixel XL last year, and upping the price at the same time. Had they even offered the same value as last year I probably would have upgraded.
