Soak test for Droid Maxx

Just installed the update, works perfectly! Thanks for the link. Greatly appreciated!

You mean the faster version of 4g. As in speeds 50 to 100mbps. Right.

But isn't this new lte called xlte? Are you certain that's supported by the newest droids?

This isn't volte right?

XLTE seems to be a rebranding of what Verizon is calling AWS band 4 they've been rolling out the last year. Yes, our phones already support that.

Not all devices are compatible, but most of the new devices from within the last year should work.

And, again, we already know that the Maxx supports AWS band 4.

That's great to hear. The article on the main site here about band 4 said the only phones that sort xlte right now are M8 and S5. I'd just assumed that to be accurate.

Anyone who already got the update. What changes are you seeing?

The only thing, that has visually changed so far, is the white icons in the status bar. It looks better than I thought it was going to be. Pleasantly surprised! It also seems a little bit snapper too.

Possible placebo effect warning! Today, my battery is better than it's been in a VERY LONG time. My usage, location, etc. are all the same but my battery is much improved. Is this the effect of the update or just a fluke? I'm on day 3 since updating. Day 1 or yesterday no real improvements, but today . . . I am at 90% battery remaining after being on battery for 5 hours.

I don't have the update yet, so I can't say anything about my phone, but this is supposed to fix a baseband/network issue, so it's very possible that the old baseband was consuming a lot more battery.

You've helped me out a lot, but the post I made a while back with the link is legit and it does work. I am using it and it's on my wife's phone. So no need to wait for it to be pushed to you. Very simple to update and, again, it is legit. I know you had fears and wanted to wait but the link is legit and works like a charm.

Shouldn't have anything to do with it. All the update checks for is their bloatware. Even those that are rooted get notification for updates. Or at least I always have when rooted. Getting rid of the update nag is always a big deal.

Any idea if we update using the XDA file, will we receive future updates pushed via Verizon?

It won't affect that at all. Next time VZW makes a new OS available, you can wait for them to push it or go the XDA route once XDA gets it. Regardless, no effect if you decide to XDA this one.

I don't have fears at all - I'm just lazy and also curious to see how long it takes to push. I'm not aching for the update; my phone generally runs fine.

To be honest I was just being lazy about finding and linking to the instructions. Everybody says that it's easy, and I guess it is once you do it, but getting instructions to get into recovery on this phone is a little hard to describe and I just didn't want to go looking for them. I would have linked if the guy who posted the update on xda had offered the instructions on how to install on the OP.

Gotcha. But I think this one installed way, way, waaaaaay easier than the one from JB to KK last December. Quick and done before you know it.

But if you're curious of how long it will take VZW, I am cool with that, too. Might be interesting to know.

I manually install the update yesterday, and everything appeared to go OK. I did have a random reboot last night, but I'm not sure if it's related to the update. I'm going to try testing things like bluetooth today.

I got an update pushed this morning... Is it still in soak testing?
