as for the solid red light; i had that but my phone started when I held down the volume and start button then I choose for it to just start and I am in my phone as it was before the problem and everything is as it was. so I think the solid red light mean nothing

Re: Solved - Nexus 4 Won't Turn On or Charge

Hi the bag that carried my nexus 4,(bought in Jan 14) had a quick water drop. Didnt realise the phone also got wet. It had gone blank. I extensively dried it over a week and tried to start it - it did not. Then i charged it up. and pressed the volume and power button and It started working. And again within a few minutes stopped working and screen went blank. Now i just see a red light flashing. What do i do? Should I open up the phone to check for water damage?
I am not sure what to do or where to get help from.

Thank you so much for your valuable information, as i have recovered my nexus 4 form the same problem. hold power button and volume down button at a same time till a red light blinks and your nexus 4 is working....

Thank you so much

Re: Solved - Nexus 4 Won't Turn On or Charge

Same here. It happened this morning, and happened something similar on another morning 3 weeks ago (in both cases I had woken up too early and missed the alarm clock -- not sure if that may be related, the phone was almost fully charged)

I dropped my phone in the water then after cleaning the boards my battery is not picking up the charge a red lights blimps i have been charging for 2 days but also it is not working what shall i do shall i change the battery or the battery will be ok if i charge for at least a day any suggestions ..its urgent

Thank you so much! I almost freaked out completely... I am renting a room in my house out and have several people coming to view the place an I thought for a moment there that my phone was completely toasted. You saved my day!

Thank you for this info!! Hubby's phone wouldn't start and even though it had 80% power left it had gone into this deep hibernation. Thanks to your tips I was able to force it to start up!! :)

WOOOOOOOOOW!!!
Worked perfect...
Thank you for saving me...
At first It didn't work, then I was making sure that I should hold the buttons for at least 15 seconds and... boom... turned on!!!
Many tnx.

Great, thank you. It worked for me.
I had to do a couple of times. Had to keep the power and volume down for about 15 seconds and then connect the USB and it worked!

Eanan, I know it's been a year since you posted this, but I'm hoping you see this reply, because I'm having the same exact problem. I've even replaced the battery, used a wireless charger, and still only one red LED blink when I connect the USB after holding down the the volume down+power button. Did you ever find a solution (other than buying a new phone)?

Hi Jorge,

Your problem sounds exactly like mine. Did you ever find a solution? I know it's been over a year since your post - hope you see this! I'm desperate. I've tried all kinds of different chargers, even replaced my battery and used a wireless charger....

I know how to wake my phone up from hibernation but this time I used the volume down button because it wasn't working. Mine also showed the red light and I then woke it up with the volume up and on button held together and it booted up. The red light at the bottom of the phone is not necessarily and indication it is bricked. Mine worked. I think it has something to do with my charger. Mine is turning off when it still has a charge and not taking a charge.
