Sound Distorted When TV is Connected via HDMI

I connect my Nexus tablet to my TV via HDMI. The picture is perfect but tbne sound is distorted. The cable is brand new. I tried adjusting the volume levels on both the tablet and TV, still distorted. I jiggled the cable, still distorted. Every once and awhile it works, but 95% of the time it is distorted.

Any idea what the problem could be?

The best test would be to try a different cable. If the same thing happens, there might be a problem with the microHDMI port of the tablet (or, less likely, the HDMI input on the TV). Have you tried it on multiple TVs?

When you do the testing that was mentioned above, if you're still having a problem, get a Chromecast. That's what I've been using since they came out and it works beautiful on the Nexus 10.
