I have a 6 Pro from Verizon. Every time I restart I get the following notification. "Speech services by Google downloading English (US) update, waiting for network connection."

Of course I'm on the Verizon network and the download never starts. My first thought was that something was set to only download over wifi, so I went to Google settings and changed the Mobile data and Messaging setting to wifi and cellular under Data Management. No change. If I switch to wifi, the notification goes away, like it finished the download, but on restart the message comes back.

Anyone else getting this notification it have any ideas how to make it finish the download?

I have tried everything everyone says to try.
Nothing stops it. I have a LG v20 & my mom has a K40 and we both have this issue. My dad also but idk which model he has.
Please don't give me repeating answers that were already given. I need a new solution.
And android or google needs to fix this crap.
I don't think we have any suggestions apart from those in this thread, so if you've tried all those, and still no go, you'll have to work at finding a fix yourself. If you succeed, share it here.

Re: That was great answer

Welcome to Android Central! I believe findingitnecessary meant that the option is in the system settings. Go to Settings>Apps>Default Apps>Digital Assistant Apps, then tap the gear icon next to Voice Input. You can find the Auto Update Languages option there.

thank you it solved with your way:D

My wife's Moto G6 decided to get stuck in the perpetual speech services download tonight... I cleared the cache in the app, force stopped it, restarted the phone and that fixed it. Just wanted to share my experience to hopefully help someone... this seems to be quite a large problem

My Lenovo Android tablet did the same thing tonight as my wife's Moto G6 did last night.. went into the perpetual downloading speech services mode, and the exact same thing fixed the problem....going into the speech services app, clearing the cache, force stopping the app, turning off the phone (not restarting it) then turning it back on after 10 seconds or so.

That's the second device in a row that was fixed with that method.... I would definitely give it a shot before doing anything more complicated. I hope this helps someone ;)

my schok volt sv55 on android 11 GO(aka the stripped almost to uselessness android lite experience) doesn't have options for the voice assistant, by that..I cant find a toggle for it.

I let my zombie download sit for four hours.

What I find interesting is neither of my pixels had an issue with the speech services download. My pixel 1 I watched download and install the update, it just took a few seconds and it finished perfectly. My 3XL must of did it in the background, but again no issues ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But on the reverse side of that both my pixels give me occasional grief updating Chrome and System WebView in the play store... and none of our other devices have ever given me a hint of trouble with those 2 apps.

I'm learning to expect the unexpected from these phones.... I can't wait to see how predictable future large-scale AI is going to be

so far...it is my considered opinion after observing the trainwreck the introduction the P6 series has been...that things are going more than a little sideways Q/C wise for google of late, not just their hardware either.

I tried everything and googled everything. Today I went into Play and Speech Services by Google and at the top right there's a couple of instructions one of which is to turn off auto update and as soon as I did the continual download stopped.ets hope it stays that way
