Sprint HTC One - Android 4.3 Update - Discussion Thread

As for the decrease in signal strength, I have done some testing and I believe this is a power saving function. It powers down the antenna to just enough to receive a call then increases when a call is initiated or received. I have confirmed this with 3 other Sprint HTC One users. If this is in fact an intended modification...I LOVE IT!!! I have a single bar 85% of the time, when I make a call it goes straight to full bars until the call is ended...AWESOME! Try it and report back...

Mine still shows photos... That's odd.

EDIT: Nevermind... I just realized NEW conversations don't have photos.
For some reason this is an issue caused by the update. You can correct it by closing the messaging app from recently used apps, then re-open it...

+1 on Wi-Fi issues. I've noticed an overall drop in speed/slowness loading pages and getting some errors when clicking a Tweet or Facebook article from BlinkFeed that it couldn't load. Testing speed with the Speedtest.net app and only getting 15-20 Mbps down last night and today, and it keeps freezing and stopping on the upload every time due to "network issues". Never had this problem before the update, when I would get 30+ down, 5+ up on a 30/5 connection. Unchecked the power saving option, no difference.

Never mind. Decided to try restarting since I hadn't since the reboot after the update. Tested again and it completed finally, 33.82 down, 5.88 up. I rarely ever restart or power-down the phone, but for everyone else with weird little issues, if you haven't after the update, you may want to try that.

I'm gonna try that and see if my results improve.

I was thinking the same thing. Does everyone just leave their GPS on at all times. I usually do not because I have noticed in previous phones a decrease in battery life due to it.
You no longer need to turn GPS on and off since jellybean, it will sit stagnant when on until an app needs it then it will activate till app no longer needs it, then will go back to sleep. Doesn't save you any battery having it off, like the good old days :)

Anyone figure out how to edit the quick settings in the notification bar? They are awesome, but the GPS toggle appears to be missing and would be a very welcome addition.

4g is starting to pick up speed in my area (north of Detroit)

I've had none of the mentioned WiFi issues. Actually been a very solid/impressive update. Crisp response, battery seems on par and signal (data) seems same as before.

Totally agree....I leave my wifi on at all times for google now, there are 3 different wifi locations i connect to daily, all 3 have connected and disconnected flawlessly...
Anyone having major issues should think about factory reset, in the past I've seen it clean up many issues after an OS upgrade, especially if you have an app that does something that google baked into this update (ie battery percentage icon) it sometimes creates a conflict on the device....
The reset will install a fresh version of 4.3 instead of "changing" code already on your device, and most times will fix issues your having

I'm getting really weak signal strength. I've missed several calls and texts since the update. I was over at Sprint's One forums, and it seems I'm not alone.

I had the same issue after updating. Try doing a factory reset. After the reset, sign into Google and hold off on everything else until you've updated your profile, PRL, UICC Unlock. Then start putting the phone back together w/apps etc. Battery has improved.

Yup, that did the trick with the wifi. Back to normal!

My phone is the same way I have one bar and when I make a call the bars go up end the call goes back down so maybe it's suppose to be like that now like people are saying. But I had 4G with 3-4 bars in my new house I just moved and now I only get 4G with 1 bar but I'm mostly on wifi so I guess it's no big deal. I just know at my old house my signal was so bad I had the air rave came here and it's been great sending air rave back. But even at work today where I could usually send a text in one spot the signal was worse and wouldn't send. And on my way home it kept saying no network connection and I kept trying to call someone and it wouldn't do anything at all than it would say call disconnected through my bluetooth. I got home and it still wouldn't make a call and I updated profile and PRL turned it off for a few and back on and than it was ok. So leaving GPS on doesn't drain battery? And do you guys leave mobile data and wifi on both or switch back and forth when using one or the other. My signal at work sucks anyway in the basement I usually turn of 3G connect to our works wifi then put phone in my pocket for the day and it does a little better that way. But I'm sure another update to fix any bugs will be here soon.
