Sprint HTC One

You're claiming that the Sprint model of the One will not have the snapdragon because of supported frequencies.

The One X had the quad core Tegra 3 for the international version and dual core snapdragon S4 for the US (AT&T) version. The EVO LTE had that same Snapdragon S4. They didn't have the Tegra 3 because of LTE support.

All versions of the One are getting a quad core Snapdragon 600. They will be customized for support of the proper LTE band, but identical otherwise. There is absolutely no reason to change clock speed or number of cores.

You are also the only person on the internet saying such, so you should probably try to send your breaksclusive to Anandtech to make sure you get credit.

Wait... what?

I said nothing about frequencies. What I said was that an FCC filing does not confirm anything about what processor is used in a device.

I'm claiming that it won't use a Snapdragon because of an internal training slide that I saw with my own 2 eyes.

There are LTE phones that use a Tegra3, you know...

Those of us who care about processor specs will NOT be happy. They're using last year's model.

I think I know whats up. The Snapdragon 600 has been misprinted on several sites as the Snapdragon 600 S4 or Snapdragon S4 600. I have had several of those site correct that mistake. The Snapdragon 600 series has the ability to do all 2G/3G/LTE spectrum's so I doubt that it is a different CPU.

If you want me to check you could snap a pic and PM it to me. I will not post it anywhere I just want to see if the person who typed it messed up thinking S4 at 600Mhz LOL

"1.7 GHz Quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3" is one helluva typo lol

I used to work at Sprint. The internal trainings often state the wrong hardware. So I believe you that maybe that's what they said, but Sprint wrote the wrong one down if that's the case.

There are Tegra 3 devices with LTE, but not at the time of the One X. The One X+ was the first Tegra 3 to support LTE and that was a couple months ago. At the time of the launch of the One X, they had to do the S4 domestically to support LTE.

The Sprint HTC One X+ had that CPU so the person who put the training material together probably used the old One X+ guide and "revamped" it for The One. The Tegra 3 will not be in the OneX as HTC has already said only one CPU is available world wide.

Sprint didn't have the One X+, it was the EVO 4g LTE and it had the Snapdragon S4, which I'm assuming is what the internal document said, but yes, it was probably because someone pulled up the old deck, replaced the picture, saw they both had snapdragons and didn't know the difference.

These documents are taken down, but you can see in the comments some of the mistakes of this nature they made with the EVO LTE internal documentation.

A rep at the Local Best Buy mobile told me today that an official release date and price will be announced this coming Thursday...Can anyone here confirm this?

They certainly do need to know, and therefor confirm, the chipset if that is where the wireless transmitters are located. And on the Snapdragon 600 they are. That is where you will find the BT and WiFi radios as well as the requisite CDMA cell modem. That's why the call it System on Chip. The 800 has the LTE as well, but that's not what we're getting on the One. We're getting the bump from the DNA's S4 Pro. The Wifi will support 802.11ac, there's a 200kHz increase in clock speed, and I'm not positive but I believe the memory is a little faster. Sprint gets HTC devices with Qualcomm processors. Period. And that isn't a bad thing. Why wouldn't you want to get your SoC from the folks who designed and own the technology that your network lives on? Long live the Viterbi decoder!!!

It's not a typo if you're talking about the One X or the One X+. But those were GSM devices. The Tegra 3 doesn't support CDMA. And to support LTE it has to have an external (to the chip) LTE modem. There would be no reason to go that route instead of the Snapdragon 600. And say what you want to but the fact is that the Snapdragon GPU beats the crap out of the Tegra 3. Plus I'd rather have the 2MB of L2 cache than the 1MB you get with the T3 or the T4.

Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ8064) vs Nvidia Tegra 3 (T33)

This is a comparison with the S4 Pro that is running inside the DNA (which the Snapdragon 600 bests a little bit here and there). It has the same amount of L2 cache, the same 28nm process and the same GPU (Adreno 320) as the 600. It's up against the newest Tegra 3 that runs in the One X+.

I've heard anywhere from Wednesday to Friday. Just rumors though.

You know what would be better than rumors? One of our illustrious Sprint reps on this site giving us a little HTC love. Come on guys, just a screen shot. We won't narc you out. Really.

Well according to him, he's pretty sure it's the Snappy from everything they've been told. He's not techy like me so he doesn't pay extra close attention to all the details (he's more about # of cores and speed rather than what's actually in it) but it's a universal phone from what they've been told - even the international versions have the same processor, they've been told.

I'm not crazy though... imgur: the simple image sharer

Lol

Umm... still waiting for this fellas. Somebody has to know something by now.

This is what HTC gave me today. It's generalized for every carrier. Nothing new.

I still know nothing. Sprint releases the "Playbook" every Wednesday. It's just information for the dealers about what's going on. So I hope they mention something then. I really did wish I knew something. I want this device so bad.
