Sprint Samsung Epic 4g Official Froyo EC05 [update.zip method/Custom Odin Packages]

Never rooted or flashed roms or anything like that. I'm waiting till this update to attempt a factory reset, I don't think I should have to wipe my phone to get a patch to work correctly, I likely will if i need to but I'd rather not do it twice.

The issue here is Samsung is long past where they should be doing quality control. They say it is released and going OTA this week you think they are doing more QC? If Samsung needs beta testers they could pop on this site and get all they want and tons of feedback. If they are in fact leaking it out slowly, ready to put the brakes on if there is a problem that is total garbage. They should have internal testing and live core testers to look at this stuff. Will betas get every bug no, but you can do alot better then how Samsung has done.

Didn't you say your phone get hosed by a previous update? I would think you'd have a lot less trust in the process and would appreciate extra due dilligence in the rollout...

With a mass release like this there can always be unforeseen issues. Even network issues unrelated to the actual software.

I appreciate a slow methodical rollout. If everything works when you get the update you'll quickly forget the few extra days you waited. If the update blows your phone up and makes things worse you'll wish you never got the damn thing. Every hour that passes without the update is more insurance that things will go smoothly when you do get it.

All that being said I can understand your frustration.

Got my Sprint ID message yesterday, handful of others as well. Wonder if the order of the messages has anything to do with the OTA order, prob not.

I don't want to dwell on this, but I specifically stated that this update is out now, OTA. A very few people have gotten it, but it is live. Its not being QCed, wait time at this point is just bad execution, not due dilligence.

I have a very strong suspicion that this update had nothing to do with Samsung and everything to do with sprint. No updates on samsung website indicates this is true.

Sprint ID Notification - link shows Gingerbread photos?

I got this link sent to my phone from Sprint. I could be wrong but when hit the link, i get taken to sprint's "ID" page. It shows a pic of an Epic with ESPN on the screen, but in the supporting photos, the interface looks different. I see three icons on the bottom - phone, apps, and "D" (not sure what that means)

So, i'm going to guess Sprint ID is another interface aside from TouchWiz?

Thanks!
B

Maybe because if they are scared of the update being like the last they don't want everyone with access to it. Make sense?

I wouldn't be surprised but I doubt it. The original Froyo update was pulled because it had problems. I doubt they would ignore those problems just to ship out Froyo with Sprint Id. I doubt this will be a miracle patch, but hopefully some issues are addressed.

knowing them they probably would.....

Man!!! For all the BS, they sure keep holding my attention! Still so hard to believe that ONLY 3 or 4 people have gotten the update! Thought I was a patient guy, but this is beyond crazy at this point of the "rollout".
