Never rooted or flashed roms or anything like that. I'm waiting till this update to attempt a factory reset, I don't think I should have to wipe my phone to get a patch to work correctly, I likely will if i need to but I'd rather not do it twice.
The issue here is Samsung is long past where they should be doing quality control. They say it is released and going OTA this week you think they are doing more QC? If Samsung needs beta testers they could pop on this site and get all they want and tons of feedback. If they are in fact leaking it out slowly, ready to put the brakes on if there is a problem that is total garbage. They should have internal testing and live core testers to look at this stuff. Will betas get every bug no, but you can do alot better then how Samsung has done.
Didn't you say your phone get hosed by a previous update? I would think you'd have a lot less trust in the process and would appreciate extra due dilligence in the rollout...
With a mass release like this there can always be unforeseen issues. Even network issues unrelated to the actual software.
I appreciate a slow methodical rollout. If everything works when you get the update you'll quickly forget the few extra days you waited. If the update blows your phone up and makes things worse you'll wish you never got the damn thing. Every hour that passes without the update is more insurance that things will go smoothly when you do get it.
All that being said I can understand your frustration.
