Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - Candy coated goodness.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Yeah, because over two million phones is almost nothing...

Well, the sales numbers were relatively bad. Over 600,000 of that number was in the manufacturer's home country of S Korea, and how many of the remaining were Sprint? so I stand by the comment that there weren't that many to update per tower. I've never seen another G2 in use in public, and nearly everyone I see using their phone is sporting an iphone or a samsung. It's a great phone, but for whatever reason, people seemed to choose those lesser phones over the one we smartly chose. The main complaints were the built in battery, 16gb with no microSD, buttons on back, LG's notoriously slow updates, and price. I think the battery lasts a long time and should last as long as I wish to use it, 16gb is more than enough for 90% of folks, the buttons become routine and are better placed, yes it's taking time to get the update, and the price was free on Cyber Monday, and cheap all around that time frame. They actually paid me to take the G2, because I got it on Thanksgiving Thur, and called in Monday night and said I was very disappointed to see they lowered the price and didn't intend to refund the difference like stores do now when they lower prices right after you buy, and the mgr gave me a credit which actually made me have a plus account balance.

That RAM isn't problematic. I usually have around 73% used constantly.
Also the people commenting on the higher RAM usage. KitKat is optimized for half gig devices, we have four times that. That 75% would be going to waste and 2GB RAM phones would be pointless. The phones use RAM more efficiently. Lower end phones won't use as much, but we have plenty to spare.

Anyone else still waiting on KitKat?

Not to disagree with you here, but, my boss, my co-worker, and myself all ended up with a G2. And I also have a few friends that ended up with one as well. I'll own up to selling my boss on it, but he got his on VZW before I got mine on Sprint. The co-worker was totally unexpected though. She broke her Note and ended up with a G2. Out of my friends that have it, some got it before me, and some after, but none of then were influenced by me to get it. The phone really sells itself once you pick it up. :) But I agree that it seems like most of them are on VZW or AT&T, not Sprint.

You guys are getting way off topic. Lol. This is about Kitkat not LG sales. :)

I still have not received the update. :(

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

Just checked for the update and my phone froze up. Looked like the screen was about to change to the update available screen, but stopped. On-screen buttons didn't work, notification pull-down did. Had to reset it. Anyone else notice this? (Happened on my wife's G2 also, multiple tries on both phones)

Edit: Ok, back to normal, aka still waiting for the update :-(

yeah, I'm near you, and nothing here either. I've tried dozens of times, rebooted, etc. There's another FL person on the thread waiting, so I wonder if there's anyone here from FL who has gotten it yet. If I don't get it by tomorrow morning, I'll do the frameworks thing.:-\

Still waiting here also. Just got my G2 a few weeks ago so I'm in no hurry to mess around with it, trying to get the update faster.

So I just downloaded Sonic cd. How can I save it once this update hits?

I'm with you all the way. I have had mine for a bit longer, but figure that the wait may only be a day or two longer. Not worth breaking anything on my phone to get it a day or two earlier. It will come... eventually. And given that the improvements are not monumental, nor are there any amazing new features, I can easily wait a while longer. In fact, other than being a little quicker (already quick), and Google Wallet tap and pay supposedly working, I am not sure what KitKat is really doing for the LG G2... I guess it's more the idea that it's a flagship phone right now, and they rushed it to market with an older version of Android. My families tablets and other phones are all already on KitKat... It's just MY phone that is behind, which is ironic, because I am the only one who even cares. :)

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

So i've looked at the kitkat release notes for android and I honestly don't see much in this update that will change my day to day usage of the phone. Can anyone comment on their own experience with it?

Do a LG Backup before you install the update. After the update restore the LG Backup and it will be there with all the saved data too.

I do like how it is working. But when I tried reading a book with my kindle app I couldn't make it immersive. Or Angry Birds. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

App devs have to code the application to support it. If they don't, your nav bar is going no where.

So...going through the list of KK features, one of them that I notice is not working on this device is...

A work of art
While listening to music on your device, or while projecting movies to Chromecast, you’ll see beautiful full-screen album and movie art when your device is locked. You can play, pause, or seek to a specific moment.

How many of the NEW features are just specific to the Nexus 5? Seems like we didn't get a lot of them.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Official KitKat info - ***Release starts March 31st***

I know some apps have added functionality when it comes to kit Kat... Still waiting by... For example pushbullet does not allow me to dismiss notification on phone from computer cause I'm not kit Kat yet

I'm using Google Music and my lock screen doesn't get "immersed" in beauty from the album art. :-/ What gives?

Yeah...I'm kinda of bummed that some of the other cooler stuff of KitKat didn't make it to us.

I'm sure the LG ui has a lot to do with the absence of some features. You also can't say OK Google on the home screen to open the Google now voice function. You have to actively be in Google Now before it registers.
