Sprint's LG G2: Tri-Band LTE aka SPRINT SPARK

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Tri-Band LTE aka SPRINT SPARK-Update released.

So after the update how do you tell if your running on one of the new bands? Also I did not think the spinning icon would be as annoying as it is. First world problems right?

##DEBUG# -> LTE Engineering-> will list the band

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Tri-Band LTE aka SPRINT SPARK-Update released.

Well I am still waiting for my OTA ZVA update.
Not sure if is just a slow rollout or if it was stopped for some reason.
The ATL is not an official Spark market and I am getting great Band 25 LTE everywhere so it is not that bothersome, but I always like to be up to date and on the cutting edge. :)

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Tri-Band LTE aka SPRINT SPARK-Update released.

I've spoke with Sprint reps on two occasions about this. One seemed somewhat knowledgeable and said that Sprint hopes to have the update out to everyone by the 15th. The other said that they are waiting on LG to pull the trigger and that they have nothing to do with this update. I sent them the link from the Sprint site, because this was through chat, and then he said that LG is holding them back again... He obviously knew nothing and was just spitting out the same ignorant script stuff any agent does when they have no clue.

Interesting.
Maybe this one was a consciously planned delayed roll out to make sure there were no problems. Just a theory.

Meanwhile, I wait patiently.

I'm nearing edge of impatience. Several days usually means around seven...which is what Sprint's site says. Hopefully before the middle of the month.

I love how they are trying to push this off on LG. I have emails for lg support that states that they do not have anything to do with this and that I was not the first person to tell them that sprint is pushing this off on them. To which they stated that they will look into this.

Most of those Sprint reps don't understand the update process and are low line employees. They don't know the nuances between an update that gets pushed out directly by HTC for example or an update that uses Google servers as is the case with LG. They are hardly experts on the issue and treating them as if they are will only get you more frustrated.

From what those in the know have said this process could take as long as 20 days before we all see the update get pushed out and it hits 100% saturation.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Tri-Band LTE aka SPRINT SPARK-Update released.

It does seem as though Sprint has stopped the roll out. I can't believe there is no way to force the update. For none of us to have recieved the update is alarming.

I don't think the rollout has stopped. I work for Sprint and there hasn't been any notice to us that it has been halted; though I haven't been to work in two days thanks to the bad weather. Updates typically only halt when the manufacturer finds something wrong with the update and have it pulled, like Samsung did the 4.3 updates several months ago. I also wouldn't take what LG says worth a grain of salt either, Samsung was telling people that Sprint developed the software in the phones from the ground up and they did nothing but make the phone and ship it to us when the last round of updates completely jacked up the S3's, 4's and Note II. Fact of the matter is most of us front line people don't know why it's taking so long to have an update pushed out unless there is an issue with it and the roll out is stopped since OTA is done over Google servers, not Sprint servers or Sprint anything for that matter. The software guys just give it the thumbs up or down. LG isn't holding it back either, so they can't help anyone there. Android updates are just a roll of the dice as to when you will get it. For what it's worth I know the general timeline for 100% network initiated update push out is 14-20 days; expect for HTC updates. I've noticed LG tends to be on the later end of the timeline for whatever reason. It sucks since KC just got Spark and I've been itching to try it with my G2.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Tri-Band LTE aka SPRINT SPARK-Update released.

Thanks. It's just a shame for me. My wife got it and doesn't need it or care about it. I don't get and I could use it. Philly has Spark and I work right there.

So... when did the 14 to 20 day time frame start?

The day the update was first pushed out to phones; which I think was 1/27. Though if the Google servers aren't pushing it out 100% by day 20 then it's really anyone's guess. I'm pretty sure it's a general number Google gave out to all the carriers since when I still had AT&T last year I called them about an update and I got the default 14-20 days, you'll get it when you get it response.

Re: Sprint's LG G2: Tri-Band LTE aka SPRINT SPARK-Update released.

I got the update as well and installed it. But I noticed that band 26 and band 41 are still disabled. How do I enabled them?
Thanks for the help in advance

They should be enabled once the update is done installing. Off hand what I can think of doing is either updating the data profile so that the phone pulls down its data programming/provisioning/whatever you wanna call it again (Spark enabled phone phones pull down programming for band 26 & 41 when they activate & provision in the system) or it might show up as enabled when the radio picks up a band 26 or 41 signal. Someone who has that update might be able to confirm that last one. That's just off the top of my head though.

Thanks so much. I tried what you said and it enabled those bands for me.
Now how would I know if I'm connected to the spark network

##DEBUG# and going into LTE Engineering and seeing what band you are connected to is the only way to check that I know off. The phone won't alert you or anything.
