i had the note 3, with so so lte speed and coverage,but hated the phone, so i thought why not get a lg g2, so i did, and now i've been stuck on 3g since i got it. i like the phone way better than the note, but so far its just getting 3g. i'll give them maybe a month to sort it out, then i'll gladly pay the 300 cancel fee to move if they don't,

by the way i'm in Houston which is supposed to be decent spark area.

Update: so the phone was apparently bad. Only took 2 phone calls, and 2 trips to a corporate sprint store. I did exchange out the phone, and i actually have LTE now. I would say its comparable to att's 4g network. nothing to write home about, but usable for sure.

Honestly, I was skeptical about updating to spark as I'm not very confident in sprints network outside of calls and text sent. I updated last night and have been using data instead of wifi and its been awesome. Really surprised that I can finally move from home and coffee shops and use data. I've been getting 29 down and about 4 to 5 up. Also I dont feel the spark icon is so bad kinda cool not so bland like the other carriers with the letters and numbers!

When "LTE" and the Spark symbol go dim, does that mean you aren't connected at all, or that you just aren't using any data at the moment?

Just realized I'm in a Spark zone. But have to see Spark on my phone. Coverage says Spark Best. Nothing. I called Sprint and they said my phone will get the best signal it can. I said, I get 3G in a Spark zone. They basicly said oh well.

Have you done a PRL update lately? I got one about 3 days ago. The new PRL version is 51100 and my phone does better at latching onto LTE while in Spark service areas. Outside of Spark it's still impossible for me to get an LTE signal but one step at a time I suppose.

Yes, PRL updated. It is quite frustrating. It seems I always get one level lower then the map. Sprint was very rude about it.

That is correct. If you see it spinning, you are getting LTE.

This is the fastest and prettiest gee wiz smart phone I've ever owned. However, Sprint's first attempt at a tri-band phone (Spark) is a monstrous fail. Does Sprint actually expect us to assume that in 2014, switching between bands should not be seamless to the end user? Am I the only one out here that feels like the phone I had 10 years ago did a better job at finding a signal to latch onto? Anyone else tired of that 'no signal - signal - no signal - signal' merry-go-round? What in the world were they thinking when they released the LG G2 back in Nov 2013? For those that have other tri-band phones, is there a better choice when it comes to the basics of phone and data signals?

Where are you located? I travel all around the Midwest and have never experienced what you say you have. My phone seamlessly transitions between LTE and 3G as well as between the multiple LTE bands where Spark is enabled.

It could also just be a bad device, what have you done to try to alleviate the symptoms you describe?

I seem to have that issue since the update. I am constantly updating the prl. I didn't have this issue on 4.2.2 I live in Orlando

same problem here in Seattle. Happens constantly all day long while travelling around town.

Murphy, TX. Just north of Dallas. I have visited a Sprint store to complain about it w/o any resulting headway. I just assumed that with so many people having similar issues, I was just another lucky owner of a really nice, 'crappy signal' phone.
