How did your update to EB13 go?

Why why why?!?!?

I updated using EB13 from the Samsung site. I know the update is down now because of bugs but this is making me crazy. Three times now, the phone has had a complete melt-down. I've lost absolutely everything including contacts, accounts, applications, and settings. I've reset the phone several times and had to restore everything manually only to have the whole thing freeze up, shut down, and start from the first-use screen.
I am going to loose my mind on this hunk of junk. It's a brick since the Froyo update. What could be causing this?
I rooted and changed to the EXT4 filesystem...it should be running more smoothly...and in all honesty, has been, that is, when it WORKS!! I've spent all day attempting to fix this thing...each attempt at wiping, resetting, reinstalling, etc, is less successful than the previous attempt.
I can't even get my contacts back...and I used my backup to do it.
Why is this happening? What could be causing it?
What can I do to fix this?!
Any help would be appreciated. I'm at my wits end with this.

Try going to Settings>SD card and phone storage>Unmount SD card. If this fixes your problem, you will need to format your SD card.

If the above doesn't work, try using the Odin update method from post #1 for a clean install.

will factory reset fix froyo problems?

i just want to make sure this will fix the problems before a go ahead and do this.

Just to add, those of us that were running DK28 had to do an install that erased everything giving us a clean install. It has been reported that those with problems that do a clean install fixes the problems. Samsung should have left the windows install option available. I backed up my epic then ran the windows option that created SWUpgrade for SPH-D700 on the desktop and everything works great. I then installed my apps from the backup and have no problems.

so after the update to froyo was pused on me i had problems. I tried a hard reset and still had problems with my motorola bluetooth for my car and answering the phone. so I tried the new flash/restore to froyo eb13 on this site...now I cant get pass the "firmware update start.." "Param.lfs"

Don't panic! Try the following suggestions and if you have any more problems questions please move over to the following section and we will get you on the right track. The section I highlighted in BOLD, I recommend to try this has seemed to help many threw troubles with Odin.

Troubleshooting
If you're having problems getting Odin to recognize your phone, try uninstalling the Samsung drivers you downloaded from the link above, and download and install this driver (select "Software" at the bottom; it should say "Device(Install),USB Driver (Software) (ver.1.0)") instead.

If Odin does recognize your phone but is failing during installation of the system files, you may have a bad download. Try downloading the files again.

If your phone turns off and does not respond at all, remove and replace the battery to get it working again.

If you can't get your phone into download mode or Odin to recognize the device, then try removing your battery and plug your phone in and boot into download mode/connect to Odin WITHOUT your battery in the phone. (Credit: Android Central's own DroidXcon)

Another troubleshoot is removing your sd card can sometimes make a difference.
Follow up in the section below with anymore questions. Thanks and good luck!

[How to] Factory Restore (or Fix a Bricked Phone)

Dude:

Thanks for your quick reply...my problem is that it hangs during instal...I will try a new download and the continue on the other forum...thanks again for the advice and the calm words!

Here is a good one. Ok so samsung and sprint pulls 2.2 because of issues but this week I upgraded my wifes phone to an epic and it was shiped with 2.2. So I went straight to the camera and tried out the sport seen and it forced closed. So sprint or samsung or both are shipping new epics with a buggy froyo. So we can't get the update without flashing but if you get a brand new epic it comes with froyo. Ok what ever sprint and sammy.

I was one of the few to manually upgrade my Epic 4g. I am so glad I did. I did have issues updating my phone, but reseting my phone fixed the problem. I had to reinstall all my apps but it wasworth it. Froyo is great on this phone. Besides having flash and being able to use skype the music player is much better. Samsung added some nice features to the Android music player. This is how the Epic 4g should have been released.

Yeah I heared about that. I'm going to try that with my wifes phone.

I just upgraded to the epic and my phone has 2.2 on it as well. I dont seem to have any problems other than the small stuff like the call log. I do wish the ringer would be higher but I cant seem to find a fix for it other than having to root the phone which I have no clue how to do and am nervous to try.

latinqtee brings up a good point...

are there any fixes for the low volume ringer issue (with or w/o rooting)?

I do recall reading something about that before. What was the deal with that? Does anyone remember?

I finally got around to updating my phone today. I purchased 2 samsung epic's 2 weeks ago and they both came with 2.1. My sister in-law played with our phones and loved them so much she went out and bought one 1 week later, her's came with 2.2.1 already installed!

I used the update.zip file listed in the first post and haven't had any issues with my phone, again it's only 2weeks old so it's not like I had alot of stuff on there to mess up.

I am trying to do the manual update but am getting the following error message: E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory)
