Yep, NJ here... nothing yet, but then again, to clarify the announcement thread on Sprint's site...

"The software is pushed from Google's servers. All upgrades from Google is pushed via OTA. We were notified this morning that it would not post until 9PM PST. The end date hasn't changed so everyone should have received the update within 4 days from today."

Sprint should fire their marketing people. 9pm PST isn't 2/21 for those of us on the East Coast. Why announce something that you know you've kept us waiting for only to mention at the very last second we'll have to wait at least another day?

What does user friendly tethering mean? Is this going to mess up my easytether usb tether, or is it going to allow usb tethering without app perhaps?

sent from Epic 4G via Tapatalk

I would like to know this too if anyone knows... Can it mean tethering allowed without the hotspot feature anded to your account?

+1 (I'd +2 if I could)

..and I totally agree, however, updates are managed (or pushed) via Google's servers, and since they are located in California, I would have liked for a 9AM release time frame, but at least it's official and we can stop whining for now...

... ... ...

So, where's Gingerbread? ;)

The wireless tether on froyo willnot work without paying the 30 bucks a month

I believe this is exactly what this means. The hotspot feature is mainly for utilizing your device as a 4G hotspot for WiFi connected devices. If you're going to tether 3G/4G via USB or perhaps even Bluetooth (?) it's an OS dependent feature and not that of Sprint or Samsung.

yes, but keep in mind all this means is that they'll be starting to roll out updates at 9 pacific (and a day later than promised). considering it's planned to take the rest of the week for updates to be pushed, I expect many people here won't be able to update for a quite a while.

Mixed signals, broken promises... you're acting as if this is some new strategy from Sprint... ;)

I think you meant to say "lies" and no, this is nothing new from Sprint. I've been a customer for close to 10 years and for the life of me I couldn't tell you why I'm still willingly giving them money.

Can any of you guys help me out. I have phone and data service just upgraded to the epic yesterday. Whenever I go into menu, setting, update and try to update the firmware, data profile or prl I get the message

Error
Your profile could not be updated at this time. Please try again later.
If this problem persists, please contact customer care.
Error: Internal Error

Sprint came seem to find out whats causing it

When I got my moment in May and epic in Dec, they each took a 3 to 5 days or so from the date they were activated untill I could do an update of anything.

Just give it a few days and try again.

So, if I'm reading all of this correctly my wife's Epic which is stuck on DG27 or DG17 (don't have it with me right now) because it was bought on 09/23 and never received the update notification for DI07 or anything there after, won't be able to be updated, right? And if I wanted to manually update I would need to find all of the versions between EB13 and whatever her phone is on and install each one in order to get it to work, correct?

Yes there is that method of using the update.zip's to go from one upgrade to the next or you can wait for the Odin version to surface and use that method to flash it. All this is subject to if you don't receive the OTA update.

More information on the Odin upgrade from older versions DI07/DG27 etc, can be obtained below.

Sorry the link I had to xda developers for the .tar files has been changed. You can still search for it over at xda developers

If you don't get the update pushed, take your phone back to best buy and make them replace it with one that can be updated.
