i just got back from lunch to see the updates about it starting at 9pm. kills the fun of waiting and speculating about it all day today.

I think you meant to say "lies" and no, this is nothing new from Sprint. I've been a customer for close to 10 years and for the life of me I couldn't tell you why I'm still willingly giving them money.

Hey! That means your almost at gold member status!

Yes there is that method of using the update.zip's to go from one upgrade to the next or you can wait for the Odin version to surface and use that method to flash it. All this is subject to if you don't receive the OTA update.

More information on the Odin upgrade from older versions DI07/DG27 etc, can be obtained below.

Sorry the link I had to xda developers for the .tar files has been changed. You can still search for it over at xda developers

Thanks for your help. She has been hesitant to do that in the past since it wipes everything (mainly having to go through and beat Angry Birds again). I'll run it by her and see what she wants to do.

If you don't get the update pushed, take your phone back to best buy and make them replace it with one that can be updated.

That would be great except we bought it in September at Radio Shack and there isn't any other problems with it that are not caused by my wife's treatment of the phone (been dropped a couple of times and has a loose USB port from the way she plugs/unplugs the charger). If it was a recent purchase than that might be an option but they wouldn't let us return it in the shape it is in. The other option would be to go to Sprint and see about insurance about the charge port, but that is a whole other issue.

It would be a slap in the face to most everyone in this forum if I said I couldn't wait for the update since I just upgraded to the Epic a couple of days ago. I upgraded after the froyo announcement was official.

Okay, I am very confused, and after reading this thread, I am more confused.

I am on DK28. Will you guys post a update.zip that takes us from dk28 to the official version, or do I need to flash back to stock.

Sorry for the confusion. If you read the first post every bit of important information/links are there.

In answer to your question. There will probably not be an update.zip that goes from DK28 to the official EB13. You will have to Odin back to stock Eclair to use the update.zip

Other option would be to wait for the Odin method which you can use to go to what will probably be a prerooted/deodexed/zipaligned stock version of EB13 Froyo from whatever your device is currently running.

I will wait for the Odin method, seems the easiest rather then going through muliple steps to get the update. Why Odin back to Eclair to install an update.zip when you can just Odin to Froyo? You might get it a little faster I suppose.

The 9:00 Pacific Time will be so that most of the country won't get it tonight. That way, the west coast will be the beta testers tonight and if something goes wrong this will enable the update to be pulled before most of the rest of the country is awake and can get it.

Well that doesn't mean that the west coast will be the first to get it, only that Google's servers that do the OTA updates are located there and that is the time zone they are using for the official release. It could still end up with people anywhere getting the update depending on how its sorted out. If we go off technical terms, only the east coast is the ones that actually miss the scheduled 2/21 release date due to the time zone Google is using.

just saw this on Samsung Open Source Release Center. SPH-D700_Froyo_update_EB13.tar.gz
Source code, released this past Friday. Can't flash it or install it. Only raw code that is valuable to developers and not the general public.

True, but the east coast will mostly be asleep by then, at least for those of us who will try to get the update downloaded and installed before it is even pushed to us.

Please read the whole thread... for the tenth time... this is only the source code. It can't be used to update your phone. It is for developers.

Did you get the update yet? Can I flash this source code? Will it work in odin? How about now? What if I found the kernel and pit somehow. Could I flash it then?

Hey,.... did you get the update?

thought i was on to something. should have known the gurus already knew about it. only a couple days late...
