Sorry, this is a total newb question. I had been running 2.1 stock. I have never done anything to my phone, but i got so excited to see a manual update was available, that i just updated via the update.zip method. now, after reading most of this thread, did i just screw myself by not waiting for the OTA update? Did i void my warranty? Did i just "root" my phone without knowing it? Do I need to reset it somehow?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks for your patience.

No, this is the same as the OTA update, but you just did it manually. If you just downloaded from Samsung then you have not rooted your phone. You should be good to go.

I'm stuck in recovery mode! I saved the update.zip file on my sd card, but when I hit the home key to install, the screen goes black and nothing happens. If I press the home key again, the recovery mode menu come back up!

HELP PLEASE!

Installed from non rooted eclair using the 200 mb samsung windows file (try downloading this one, 2-3 mbps speed, came down real quick). Installed per their direction , no issues at all. GPS location is FIXED.. sitting in my house gets me an accuracy of 11.4 feet. I used several froyo custom roms before this and I have to say that these feels more stable... fast scrren transitions and no real lag anywhere. I'm off to the car to see if my bluetooth issues come back that I had with DK28 (losing audio once disconnected from car, had to reboot everytime).
Overall, so far so good..

I have done everything as instructed. when i apply the sdcard:update.zip the epic finds, opens and verifies then fails and aborts saying no such file or directory/signature verification failed. what am i doing wrong?

I am having the same problem.

I'm on dk28 and rooted. Is there already a flashable update available through clockwork? Or what's the preferred way of updating now for the rooted dk28? Please help us! Thanks

Updated using the Mac/update.zip method. Took forever to boot up the first time, as expected. The only glitch I saw was had to enter my Google account password. Otherwise, so far so good.

Do we have a confirmation that the Tar file inside the update can be used with odin over DK28? I was under the impression that Odin completely wipes your phone, just wanted to see if anyone has tried to install the Tar file through Odin.

im pressing the update.zip file in boot recovery mode and everytime i press the menu button it brings me to the little android guy with the exclamation point inside the white triangle and nothing else??? Y isnt it doing anything??

Great, thank you! I was getting worried. I think I'll let my wife get the OTA update. :)

If you just open your SD card from my computer you are in the root directory. Pretty much all you have to do is drag and drop it into your SD card, no special folder within.

You need to press the home key...not the menu key. Had my heart racing thinking I jacked up my wifes phone. Pulled the battery to get it to reset and tried the HOME key...just got done updating fine.

I was having same problem. may want to update the instructions on page one of this thread. home key not menu key.

Manually updated just fine and most everything is working fine. A couple things I have noticed in the short time I have been messing around is that 1) using the samsung oem car dock still won't play audio through the aux jack, big bummer. 2) the standard web browser seems a little more glitchy. The page renders a bit choppier now.

i did that but im still getting the download error message that a couple of other people are getting.
