Has anyone had issues regarding volume on media content (very low volume on navigation, music and video playback) since upgrading to EB13

Is there any word on when the update will be released OTA again? I couldn't bring myself to read all 68 pages.

Nope. But Samsung is still giving out the update via their website. I've been using it since day 1 with no major problems,

I am now experiencing issues with data taking very long to load. Web browsing is OK not as quick as it was before. But loading FB or check email is taking longer to refresh when launched. I may need to try going back to stock DI18 and then completing the update with a wipe.

I did the update on my husband's Epic - it was terrible. The biggest problem, at first, was blinking keyboard, it wouldn't sign into Google. Rebooted 3 times and that quit, got everything on - then the phone's ring
was probably on a scale of 1 out of 10.
Nothing fixed it - called Advanced Tech Support - this is one of their "issues" which I call a problem.
Only fix is (1) Service Center to downgrade, (2) use Odin and bricked stickie, or (3) root and flash.

He will not allow me to "break" his phone (I'm running rooted Midnight) and has listened to me cuss and mutter too much!!! So luckily I could Odin back and put things as was.

So before you upgrade, remember a phone is a phone and it should ring - other "issues" are annoying, but it has to ring!!

And to be honest, casual users like him can't tell the difference, so save yourself the headache of potential problems if you aren't going to use some of the new bells and whistles and wait till they are sure everything is fixed.

I want flash! My mom's and my girlfriends epic both got the update. Maybe I'll update from the website if that's still up

samsung epic update

I like to know of how the manually update go and if the issues you having dont want to wait

3G In and Out of Service Beeps

This never happened before the update to Froyo, but now, every time my phone is on the charger and 3G either turns on or off, the phone makes the normal "service beep".. the beep when you completely lose service or regain it. What's odd is that throughout the night my phone sits in the same spot and at least four or five times, 3G comes on and goes off, so I hear the beep each time.

So I guess the problem is two fold: 3G is toggling way too frequently AND the phone beeps when 3G toggles.

Anyone else with this issue?

Where can I find the method to go back to DI18. The fact that I can't hear my phone ring is a huge problem. Unless I'm missing something I need to get back to 2.1. Is their something I'm missing on the update that is causing the external speaker to be so muffled? Both my wifes phone and mine have the same issue.

[How to] Factory Restore (or Fix a Bricked Phone)
See second procedure.

I finally bit the bullet. Followed the steps for the Samsung download tool. I performed a hard reset. I entered my google info and other email info. Downloaded the apps I previously made a list of (that I still wanted). Made a few personalization changes. Made a few zedge selections. About an hour later I was rockin' and rollin' in 2.2!

I really can't believe my upgrade decision was so difficult because it is running smooth as silk. Slight tiling on web zooming is the only issue, but my 2.1 did that just not as fast. I had many problems with 2.1. The worst was my email would stop working requiring several reboots during the day. 2.2 email works much better and faster. I had thoughts of going back to blackberry (yikes!). Everything is faster. All apps and functions appear to working, but I will let you know in a couple of days for sure.

I have seen a few complaints like I can't find bookmarks, but I like just hitting the star next to the url to get there. My battery life is 3 times better, and I was using juice defender on 2.1. I don't even need it with 2.2. This update fixed many bugs, and I'm surprised sprint pulled it instead of providing a manual solution.

Just do it if you have been thinking about it. You'll be glad you did.

The hard reset was definitely needed and did not bother to go back to DI18. Currently the phone is performing better than before even better than when it was on 2.1. So I guess this is the key to the upgrade.

Looks like the pulled the downloads from the Sprint site. I remember going there a couple of days ago and you could get the ZIP file or the EXE file if you wanted to do the manual update. Looks like they pulled them both.

Hey guys! I'm one of the people who got their Epic on the release date & have been impatiently waiting all this time for Froyo but didn't get the OTA update. I've been reading the forums to maybe get up the courage to get it thru the "manual" method being as I'm a total NEWB. From the forums I've read that for the update you must have "stock Android". I haven't done any "rooting" or "moding" to my phone but about 2 months ago my phone just re-set itself and the "Android market" had a new look and when I checked the operating system under "About phone" option, my "OS" said "2.1update 1". Does this just mean the "market" change or is there some Froyo stuff in my system that I need to do a "re-boot" to bring out? Also, is my system still considered "stock" for updating purposes? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

You are fine to use the update.zip if you choose or the .exe that wipes your phone to start fresh.

Its not hard. I was like you stock never messing with it, but I AM a tinkerer and a coder on another platform...

Just copy update zip to your SD card, turn power off, pull batt, replace bat, boot holding volume down and camera button, use vol to select the update zip and home key to apply.

Update your PRL afterwards through the about phone interface.

You should know that the update breaks the camera sports mode option, and probably also impairs your video cam fooling it into thinking its shooting in a different mode. If either of those bother you, you might want to wait if you arent comfortable going further than this. Fix involves using some software and updating a corrected kernel.
