still waiting for 5.1

Just got 5.1 today for AT&T. Out of nowhere really. I've been checking the past 3 weeks, my phone last checked this morning at 330 am, but around 10 am pacific it notified me about the 5.1 update. happy it finally arrived....but honestly, nothing has changed much. My phone didn't have issues before so i cant tell a difference yet.

Got tired of waiting, did the sideload with the latest (M) and all seems good. Was a little disgusted when they announced they were rolling out 5.1 for the nexus 4 and the 6 isn't even really started yet.

5.1 officially showed up today on my nexus. However after it reboots during the install it gives me an error and won't install.

Still waiting ... for over five weeks for a product that should not take more than two per Google's tech support page.

Got my 5.1 on my Nexus 6 on AT&T around 5pm EST on 4/13/15

While I've never had this happen, possible fixes I've seen include;
1. Clear cache, or clear cache & data on the GMail app.
2. Remove your Google account from the phone > reboot > add your Google account back.
3. Factory reset and re-activate your phone on your Google account.

Hopefully other members can add easier or more effective ways to solve this issue.

You can't remove the main Google account from the phone, right? Not sure what you're suggesting.

Sure you can. I tried it though and it didn't fix my lack of gmail notifications issue, nor did wiping gmail data and cache.

I really don't want to factory reset, so I'm holding to see if the issue resolves itself after some time. When I re-set up my Google acct and gmail app, I did get a new mail alert at first, so I have hope :-)

Ok. I would say your chances of it "fixing itself" are slim.

Verizon user here with a Motorola.com bought Nexus 6. Got tired of waiting for OTA....

Swapped Verizon SIM out with my (inactive) Ting GSM (T-mobile) SIM and rebooted. Thought maybe, just maybe, I'll get the OTA notification.

Update notification showed up! Downloaded OTA, rebooted and installed, rebooted and optimized. Now I have 5.1 build LMY47M

Put Verizon SIM back in phone and rebooted. No optimizing, checked and still on build M. Made some test calls, played with phone. No issues.

So that's how I got 5.1

I'm getting pretty annoyed...

My wife's Nexus 5 updated to 5.1 two or three weeks ago.

My Nexus 7 2013 (the LTE version!) just updated to 5.1 also. Probably would have done so earlier except it mostly stays in my backpack and doesn't get turned on very often.

Meanwhile, my Google Play Store edition Nexus 6 is still running 5.0.1 and still telling me, "Your system is up to date."

Why?

I have the same problem.

I am curious ... what is your carrier and what did you use for a SIM for activation. Mine is Verizon and I used (and continue to use) my Droid Turbo SIM.

A Verizon rep told me that my N6 would not get a 5.1 upgrade because the Google/Verizon "system" sees my device as a Droid Turbo ... REALLY!

I wonder if my phone will leapfrog to 5.1.1 when Droid Turbo does, as recently announced. :-)

That's when you go to XDA Developers, grow a pair, and do it yourself. Like many 1000's of people. Complaining here isn't going to change anything. Sometimes you gotta do it yourself. If not, just wait and complain.

:)

I'm not against doing it myself; have done so in the past with other devices/other OS releases. Mostly I am just curious as to why it hasn't been pushed to me yet...

My carrier is Cricket Wireless (an AT&T MVNO) but so is my wife's Nexus 5. Someone earlier in this thread suggested removing the SIM card and rebooting the phone without it; tried that a few times but no joy.

And, FWIW, I did receive the 5.0.2 update in a timely manner, several days after my wife's Nexus 5 did.

Yeah... that's messed up... there's no reason why you shouldn't have got the OTA yet. Really..

Either flash the factory image (I'm guessing since you are on Cricket, you will want the 'D' 5.1 image) yourself, or download the Wugfresh NRT and let it do the heavy lifting.

Frankly, the reason I prefer not to flash the factory image is that it will wipe my phone. That means I have to take separate pains to backup and then restore my WhatsApp conversations, SMS/MMS conversations, music, and so on.

It's just a PITA that I should not have to endure.
