I used the Cyanogenmod Installer for Mac to flash CM11 to my Nexus 5. The installer said it was successful but now I'm stuck in the CM animation screen. It's been this way for about 30 minutes, thinking something has gone wrong. What should I do next?

Yes.

CWM installed. I let the boot loop go on for a little while longer. Then booted into recovery. Did Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe Cache Partition, and Wipe Dalvick Cache. Then rebooted. Still stuck in the loop...

I flashed again via adb but still got the boot loop. Wound up installing Windows on my Mac (ugh), booting the N5 into recovery and then ran the Windows version of the CM installer. Everything works perfectly now. Currently debating whether or not to keeps Microsoft on my computer...might be a necessary evil at this point.

There is no need to for another operating system, next time you can just flash CM manually.

Flash Boot.Img. This might solve the bootloop!

I think, You just need to flash the boot.img (available in the Cynogen Bundle Zip Folder) after installing Cynogen Mod. Me too got stuck on the animation part for a long time. Then I found out this:

CyanogenMod builds for endeavoru currently do NOT support any bootloader version number below: HBOOT 1.28. As the device is S-ON (security-on bootloader), for a working installation you must extract the boot.img from the installer zip and run fastboot flash boot boot.img from fastboot mode.
