This has been said to be bad advice. I've done it and it worked on a gnex but also tried it on my N4 and kept getting play store errors and all kinds of nonsense. Just be aware it may do nothing or may cause a big headache. I believe it was a Google engineer that said don't do it.

I think that's just the phone acclimating to the lost data in my experience those types of problems resolve themselves quickly.

I've been doing it a lot on my Verizon Moto X since I heard someone got the 4.4.2 update on Verizon early. Doesn't do anything I can tell. What are the bad things it is supposed to do? I was doing it about 10 times an hour when I first heard about the update. Now I do it 2 or 3 times a day.

Like I said play store errors and I think it resets your synch with google servers and can screw up messaging and such. Yea, I did it a few times on each device and got bit once.

If you guys are still waiting for an update, take a look at my earlier post on how to manually update. It might seem a little scary to boot into recovery, but it really is very very simple. Took 5 minutes, absolutely no issues.

All good now, deleting the data just removed the sync to my Google account.
