T-Mobile Note 3: Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update problems and issues thread

Re: Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update problems and issues thread

You can use CF Auto Root but use the file for N9005 and it will work

Did a hard reset, didn't work. Going to try to do a full reset via ODIN and an official T-Mobile KitKat system image. Does anyone know any messaging backup programs that can save MMS messages? I don't care about the pictures but I want to save my text in them. Arg!

Got a third Note 3 yesterday and made damn sure 4.3 was installed and the update was turned off. Its now running perfectly with 4.3, no freaking KitKat at all.

Re: Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update problems and issues thread

With the Samsung Galaxy S4, I have this problem all the time. The touchscreen doesn't work or is very slow, freezing happens casually and with the flip cover, the screen will not adapt to the smaller size anymore. Somebody tips besides from a factory reset?

After I updated I had to reboot my device again to get the touchscreen to work. Just a heads up for anyone who runs into this, just hold the power button down until it reboots and everything seems fine afterwards.

Problems I have after Kit Kat... freezing, battery drain, gets hot and constant data drops even though it says I have full LTE. I need to go back to 4.3.

Re: Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update problems and issues thread

Just got the 4.4.2 "update" yesterday. I now have half the battery life I had before (battery life was the main reason I got this device in the first place). Silly me for not thinking that an update might make my phone much, much worse than it was before.

Re: Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update problems and issues thread

After installing 4.4.2 OTA, my Note 3 just keep random restart. It can happen in the middle of nothing. I have my Gear connected to the Note 3 and all of a sudden, the Gear vibrated and saying "Device disconnected....".

I tried clear cache, hard reset..... nothing works.

I called T-Mobile to send me a replacement phone and they can't promise it is a 4.3 version. Thus, it takes 1 week to delivery my replacement phone.

What a nightmare!!

Re: Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) update problems and issues thread

So heres some real comparison results from how my last 2 new Note 3's were behaving battery wise on KitKat vs how my 3rd replacement Note 3 battery usage is on the stock Jelly Bean 4.3 out of the box from the T-Mobile Store.

Again, the results on the KitKat battery drain was attempted to be fixed doing the following on both Note 3's I had with no change in battery draining usage. So for those of you stating I did something "wrong* or didn't "try" to troubleshoot this problem on two different brand new Note 3's can bite me, hard.

1. Cleared partition cache after Kitkat update as well as factory reset on both Note 3's on Kitkat
2. Two different SIM cards
3. Tried with and without A-Data microSD card. Did not format SD card due to large amounts of personal data.
4. Factory reset and rebuilding after Kit Kat update
5. Forcefully stopping Knox and Lookout from running in background
6. Yanked out battery and reinstalled after 3 minutes along with reseating SD card

What's odd is you say Omg for 51 percent app usage but in your "good" battery screenshot the app usage is higher and you aren't pointing it out.. Just odd to me.

Either way something with the drain seems to be occurring to multiple people.

i really installed it on my xperia z1 and i had many problemes like applicationes craches specially the camera and i freaked out as i have just bought the phone 3 weeks ago

I just updated to KitKat my note 3, and I have a very annoying bug that I never saw before.

I get a Whatsapp message, I open the conversation window, when I start typing, the keyboard works, but it is not typing! the digits I press are not being written into the whatsapp input!

Same thing happens with Google keep. I open a note, I start typing, nothing happens. The keyboard is working, but the things I type do not show up on the note. I have to close the note, open it for a second time, and now it does start typing.

Same here and the consistent black screen from waking up from standby and not responding even though I can feel the phone vibrate. Never will I update any phone running Android software again. Ran into problem's on my Galaxy S3. What a joke of consistently providing junk software updates.

Man just got my note can someone please help me I'm running kit kat my bluetooth doesn't connect unless it's right next to the stereo basically touching.... Also wife doesn't connect unless I'm in front of the router I walk ten feet away and nothing....

I am not sure about the blue tooth but change your wifi security setting from wpa2 to wep. That worked for me.

I have had an issue that when the network signal becomes weak it drops the network and I have to keep scanning for it and re-registering on t-mobile orange. After several calls to Tmobile as my mobile is unlocked they say it is a software issue relating to kitkat. The phone numer is broadcasting to them but the phone number on the device shows as 000000s. I hope there's a fix soon. It is infuriating and they have now deactivated my previous sim. Every time I make a call I have to reregister several times. It is beyond a joke.:'(

I updated to KitKat yesterday and since then the phone has been slower overall, but the most trouble I've had has been with texting. I'll go to answer a text and though the keyboard will pop up and the auto correct bar will indicate I am in fact typing something, nothing will show up for an infuriating length of time. The autocorrect itself has changed; now when I wish to backspace on a single character, it deletes the entire word. The worst part is when a text refuses to send despite having more than enough service to do so. It'll fail and fail again, until finally I have to restart the phone. I only just got this phone last month, and I was perfectly happy with the old firmware. I wish desperately there was some way to roll it all back.

Try a factory reset.

I am so sick of the issue with Samsung and T-Mobile. I have had 2 Note II's updated them and had issues with BT and Voice, fixed with BT Launcher. Now replaced one Note II with a Note 3 and updated it and have the same issue and BlueTooth Launcher cannot fix it. I will not purchase another SAMSUNG device until they start giving better support! Based on the 2 different models and default versions of Android working, and the updates not, it has come down to Samsung being the problem IMHO.

Why is it they can make sure default apps work with original version of Android, but updates do not? I can tell you why, because they make sure phones work out of the box and do not test the updates to make sure they will run the default apps. They straight out DO NOT CARE!..

I spent a total of 3 hours on the phone with both T-Mobile and Samsung, they even remoted into my phone to make sure all settings where correct. Then blew me off and said to take it to Best Buys to the Samsung rep to flash it because it must have been a corrupted load. Really, on both my Note II's
