Tab A 6.0.1 email printing error: Failed to change the settings. Please try again

I have had many android devices and very familiar with print services. I have never seen this error. I have a new Tab A and have the default Samsung print services, canon print services, and brother print services installed. When I try to print from the stock email app it finds the printer but no matter what print service I use it previews the pages, I hit print and get the error message: "Failed to change the settings. Please try again". Makes no sense.

I was able to print to my brother from my chrome browser with the brother print service. The Canon said "the print spooler has stopped".

However I really need to print certain things from email. Any ideas on what is causing this error? My S7 edge running the exact same android version prints fine from email.

Thanks for any ideas,
BJB1

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Problem: Can't print wirelessly from SGN3. Error message: "Failed to change settings."

My solution:
1. Home screen
2. Touch Apps
3. Touch Settings
4. Touch Application Manager
5. Touch App Info
6. Touch Clear Cache button

Select document to print. I was then able to immediately print wirelessly to my HP 8600. Problem solved. I spent at least 2 hours beating my head against the wall trying to figure this problem out. Hope it works for you.

Same frustration for me. I was able to print my emails prior to this date (can't recall when I last printed an email, but within the month certainly). Must be result of an improperly tested update. Why must every update come saddled with grief for everyone.

I just printed from my OnePlus-2 Android cell, so this is definitely a Samsung problem.

I didn't go as far as Disabling Android Web, all I did was uninstall the updates. I remember when it updated not to long ago and that's when my problems began. I uninstalled the updates went back into my e-mails and was able to print multiple e-mails without a single problem. I didn't think this was just a Samsung problem as I couldn't print from my phone either, which is an Alcatel One Touch Idol. My tablet is a Samsung Tab 4. I also couldn't print from my charter e-mail account (rather than using the stock e-mail app). However, where I could on some e-mails that offered the option to view it in a browser, I could then share it directly with the printers app (in my case Epson Iprint) and get it to print. A pain but it worked as a temp. fix. I'm glad that just uninstalling the Android Web View updates did the trick. I haven't noticed any problems after doing it. I hope they get the problem fixed soon as I liked not worring about updating when it was all done automatically. For now, I'm a happy camper. Thank you to the person who uploaded the response that they had gotten help to this problem from. Merry Christmas everyone!

Well done Rodney53 you are a wizard.

Only took 50od replys to get there.

It does send pdf to the Google drive that you have available now at least.

It was able to convert email trails to pdf directly to the phone but not now it seems.

Any way at least it is converted and saved to Google drive where I can via WiFi conected printer.

Thanks again

Go to Applications Manager from settings on ur phone -> Choose Samsung Print Service Plugin -> in the settings list, choose "Permissions" -> for Storage, turn it ON (i.e., enable it).
This will fix the problem.

Thanks so much. Your advice was the only one that worked! I did have all the printer apps "on" and other advice wasn't specific enough for technology illiterate people like me.

I just fixed the problem on a few samsung devices including the s7 Active...
Setting the Android System Webview to factory and enabling again worked and I do not get the message any more.

Settings|Device|Applications|Applications Manager|More|Show System Apps... then disable, set to factory try the print from email, if it works then
go back and enable..

The problem seems to be in the latest version of the Android System Webview...
Hope this helps...

If you are using 2 step-verification, The allow less secure apps is not there. It tells you to generate a password...

Was able to print docs and pics using the samsung plugin!😀 Still can't print yahoo or gmails? Anyone able to print emails; and if so, how?😉 Thanks!

This post is from a fella named Tom & given to him by Samsung support on another website its posted. For me uninstalling updates worked didn't have to disable & enable android web view. This has been driving me nuts for 3 weeks lol Thanks Tom!

Tom:
I still can't print Gmail emails. I received the following email from Samsung today:

"We have got the investigate feedback from R&D team, they found this is a Google WebView issue. Here is the information from R&D:
Description: Description: Description: Description: cid:image002.png@01D241C7.6A862800
Here give you a temporary workaround. You can try to downgrade Android System WebView (reset it to a factory version). The following steps can be done on Galaxy phones for that:
· Go to Settings->Application manager
· Touch More button and select “Show system apps”
· Open Android System WebView
· Touch Disable button (and touch Disable or OK or Agree in each popup)
· Touch Enable button.
Also auto update of Android System WebView should be disabled (it can be done in Play Store app).

Hope this can help you, please feel free to let us know if you have any issues, thanks."

This works tom is a genius

This works finally

All the ideas listed here wouldn't work for me. Rolling back to an older Android System Web view worked for a while but even that eventually failed. And yes I made sure auto update was off on that app.

The only real fix/workaround I've found is to use Gmail through the chrome browser on my phone. Gmail in chrome works surprisingly well. You can print as long as your printer has an email address and save emails as a pdf to Google drive no problem. It's crap to do it this way but at least it works

This is how you fix problem printing emails on tab A
1 Go to applications manager
2 Touch More and select show system apps
3 Open Android System Web viewer
4 Touch Disable

Re: Failed to change the settings. Try again.

Downgrade Android System WebView (reset it to a factory version). The following steps can be done on Galaxy phones or Tablet for that:
· Go to Settings->Application manager
· Touch More button and select “Show system apps”
· Open Android System WebView
· Touch Disable button (and touch Disable or OK or Agree in each popup)
· Touch Enable button.
Also auto update of Android System WebView should be disabled (it can be done in Play Store app).
For me I just uninstalled updates to "Android system web view" & it worked I didn't have to disable & re enable

This was copied from an HP forum. I tried it on my tab A and it worked I don't know if it makes a difference but I am also now using Google cloud print. Google cloud print didn't work any better than the Epson or Samsung printer plugins until I ran the above fix. Seems to be working fine now.
