Talk me out of getting a V30

There’s just something that keeps pulling towards the pixel over the V30, I think it’s the pure android google experience and the fact that it receives direct updates from google. I rarely shoot video so I don’t really need all those high end LG settings but if I did have to the pixel is good enough! And the pictures are fantastic as well.

Of all the weird long skinny phones lacking the proper 16/9 screen ratio I like the size of the V30 best. I actually prefer the S8+ to the Note 8. The Note looks even longer than it is due to its shape. The pixel 2xl sounds too big to carry.

I was expecting great things out of V30 camera, but the comparisons I've seen are not promising. Deal breaker for me. Note 5 is the only other Android camera that is on par with Pixel 2.

It is hard to argue with V30 DAC though, it is a proper audiophile setup.

Err... Note 5 is pretty far behind the Pixel 2, likely much further behind than the V30. Did you mean the note 8?

I played with a V30 over the weekend and it was fast, the screen looked great and it has a headphone jack. If it would get the fast updates and had Google camera tech I would get it for sure. I don't think you can go wrong with either device

I really want to play with the v30 but I haven't been able to find one yet

It's fairly simple: Get the phone as Google intended it. If that's not important to you, go with God

I just checked out the v30 asset an ATT s store and boy is that a nice handset. if this was out early in the year, I would have gotten this versus the s8+. I ordered the pixel 2 XL cos I want the latest version of Android but if LG continues on this path they could start to actually compete with Samsung

While I don't think they'll move to a springtime launch, you'd think LG would figure out that they should move their fall launch up some. If they could just get their crap together and launch a bit sooner than some of these other flagships (Note 8, farther ahead of the Pixels, iPhones etc), they would have a better chance of success. They announce the v phones, wait, wait, wait, other phones release, then LG starts to sell it. A small thing like timing might help their sales a fair amount IMO

I have both the V30 and P2Xl pre-ordered in the UK, still not decided but am leaning towards cancelling the P2XL.

IMO the only advantage for the pixel is up to date android, I thought this was a big (and maybe it is) but after using an old PXL for a couple of weeks I am not so sure it is that big of a deal. The V30 has wireless charging, expandable storage, dual cameras and imo looks nicer too. Could be the goldilocks phone size wise too.

I previously used the G6 and found it a less bloaty alternative to samsung wiuth great standby battery life but the samsung hardware won over, now though the V30 seems to tick all of the boxes.

I may change my mind again tomorrow!

Goldilocks size?

Yeah have to go with what works for you. For me security updates / bug fixes are greater then wireless charging, expandable storage, and dual cameras. Especially since the camera on the Pixel is already great. I mean wireless charging can be convenient and the wide angle lens is fun but not staples/must haves for me.

In truth I think expandable storage is the biggest thing for me with wireless charging the gravy.

I snagged a 128 GB and for me that is all I will need. Even w/ loading up movies for trips I will be good. I have never been a "I need 500 GB" on a phone guy. I stream most stuff on my day to day (unlimited on Verizon) but load up for plane rides whenever I need.
