Terrible battery life on my G3

I recommend a factory reset, in my case it helped a lot i am getting over 4 hours SOT on 50% brightness which is solid. Also running the stock LG 5.0 ROM.

This is good news to me. I have been reluctant to flash a 5.0 based rom for my g3 as xposed framework isn't supported. Since SoftCard doesn't have the $1 off a transaction promo anymore (needed RootCloak for this to work)....maybe I'll give it a whirl.

I do like the xposed integration of greenify though. It prevents removal of notifications if an app is greenified. Not sure if root only mode would be good enough especially if I greenify a system app.

In addition to greenify, I use CF Lumen (to regulate display brightness), and Amplify ( to kill wakelocks, services, alarms)

But honestly, if you are getting 4 hrs SOT (which is what I get now)...I'm nearly sold.

Would you mind in a day or two posting some screen shots of your battery stats? TIA

I am really disappointsd. Did a factory reset and again I am barely getting 7 to 8 hours for a charge from 100 to 15 percent with just over 2 hours and 40 min sot...this is just silly.....

Here is at 51% .

I wanted to ask about my battery. I plugged my phone in around 1:20pm today with 24% remaining and I believe it showed around 3 hours of use. No matter what I set the brightness to (generally between 0 and 40%) it shows that my screen has used anywhere from 51-71% of my battery. Nothing else on the list even comes close. I use my phone as a phone, text messaging, FB, read some articles, use the camera and watch short youtube videos once in a while. Is this normal? I've also had to do one soft reset because the calendar was getting stuck on the previous day and my photo gallery wouldn't scroll. I've looked through a lot of the tips and tricks but don't seem to be having luck. I came from an iPhone 4S so rooting, etc. is not something I'm interested in (or comfortable with) at this time and the majority of my use is on Wifi.

I'm on Sprint and it's running Android 4.4.2. Thanks in advance.

Well from my experience it is normal as you can see from the photos i uploaded earlier in my case the display is the main culprit with 62%.

I suffered with poor battery life until I tried switching off location, I got maybe 10 hours before which wouldn't last my day at work, now I get easily 24 hours at least, I just switch on location when I need it

Sorry - nothing positive to add, but as a new(ish) owner of the G3 i just wanted to say how dissapointed i am (coming from a Nexus 4).

I dont have many apps on my phone (on purpose) and am lucky to get 3 hours screen time between charges. Factory reset last night after reading forum suggestions, but appears no better today. The battery percentage display literally drops by 1 for every minute the screen is on. Fine with the screen off, but that isnt really the point is it!!

Hoping this gets rectified soon, or it might end up being a Note 4 for me.

Ok, I have to say something. This phone is obviously going to use more battery, because the SCREEN is 4k, and it's BIG. I have yet to get below 50%, in 24-28 hours, even though I have used it constantly since I got it. For those of you who came from another type phone/screen, what did you expect, and why is is a big deal to charge more frequently? I am never more than 5' away from an outlet, be it at work, or at home, so I just don' understand all of the complaints. I have location on, and emails set to check 5 minutes. I don't game, no Facebook, etc. I visit websites, check emails, take pictures, etc. And come here to see what the NEXT complaint about the phone will be.. I am going to stop coming here though, because it's ruining the experience for me, seeing all of the negativity.

Sorry, but I just don't think this is an issue, given the nature of the phone, and it's capabilities. It's not like 'your last phone' and in fairness, should not be compared to any other phone. While there may be a few battery issues out there, some of the post on the topic I feel are unwarranted.

If people are a little frustrated, then it's warranted. That's what a community like this is made for after all...discussions about the full user experience (good AND bad) of various devices :-) Equally, if scanning the G3 threads isn't helpful/enjoyable for you, you're obviously free to not visit.

For the record I think it's a great phone, but I know what it's like to be disappointed in some key aspect of a device...so I empathize with the frustration.

Not trying to be combative, just My 0.02.

For the most part I have to agree. It's not just the G3. Check the forum for just about every other device and you'll see the same - people complaining about one aspect or another that's generally bothersome about that particular phone. With forums it's just the nature of the beast. People more often come to them to complain rather than praise. Despite the negative posts I still come here to learn from others experiences in order to try and improve my own. I really don't worry what other people say. I still enjoy my phone and that's all that matters. You have to take it with a grain of salt. Just bear in mind that this forum and it's complaints represent a minute fraction of all LG G3 owners. There are still a majority of many tens of thousands of satisfied owners out there who are happily using their devices that we will never hear from.

They are frustrated because they are disappointed with the battery life. Disappointment results from exaggerated expectations. I'm not sure what would make people satisfied with the battery life.

But you're right. I don't need to come here anymore.

Do you really think that having the screen on for 3 hours doing web surfing and then needing to charge it again is acceptable? Because i dont.

I fully appreciate that it has a BIGGER screen than my Nexus 4 - but it also has a BIGGER battery, i assumed to compensate. I want to know that if i am out and about, working etc, that i can use my phone all the working day. I shouldnt need to be planning where the next power point is just in case i need to charge the phone because ive had the audacity to turn the screen on.

With regards to not comparing the phone to anything else, what are you talking about? Its a mobile phone to use as a phone for calls and messaging, internet, email, music, movies, satnav, just like any other smart phone. Just because it has a QHD screen doesnt make it a different device. Its a smart phone, in the market place along side its competitors. LG have tried to push the boundaries with the screen and i think im paying the price in battery life.

With regards to this kind of post on a forum, do you know what generally speaking their purpose is? People share their experiences and make comments, maybe ask questions or offer suggestions. I think the LG fan club for sheep is probably found somewhere else.

I can't speak for anyone else, but my question only came because I'm new to Android and not used to everything running in the background.

You have a point, but i don't agree that 3 hours of SOT is what this device offers as you can get 4 hours on a full charge by doing the things you listed without a problem. Anyway if you do need to use your phone 4+ hours a day constantly i suggest getting a case with a battery, they add bulk but if you need that sort of thing they get the job done!
